For installations in Nigeria, the optimal inclination is 5 - 14 degrees (from horizontal facing south) depending on location.

Shading is another factor you have to look into. Is the South facing array shaded at any time?

Lol, it must be highly spiritual then!

Let me try and explain small. Before you conclude this, did you observed this for a period of 1yr and the cumulative results showed this?

If you are observing it around this period, it very possible cos the sun is moving more to the north and sets almost in front of any west facing roof side. Secondly, ur inclination angle of around 20degree is very optimal for west-side roof, any time from 1pm till sunset. So, as long as the sun it out shinning, u will keep smiling to the "bank".

Circuit breakers generally protect your wiring or cabling from overheating that can cause a fire outbreak. Surge protective devices protect your equipment from[b]voltage spikes[/b] eg lightning.
So if your area is prone to lightning you need in your install. They generally pass those voltage spikes to ground if you have ground connected to your setup.

By and large you need SPDs in your setup here in Naija because our source of power is usually erratic especially if you plan to charge batteries with the public utility.
It's usually better to err on the side of caution than to say had I known. You can't tell if the lightning will strike in your area. The cost isn't as bad as replacing the equipment.

For the calculation for breaker size. NEC and IEC codes specify a safety factor of 125% and 156% for PV breaker sizing.

For example you want to size the breaker for a string of solar panels. You use Isc x 1.56

If you have more than 1 string you use
Isc x number of strings x 1.56

Between your charge controller and battery bank you use:
1.25 x Imax of charge controller

Same applies to the inverter and battery bank.

Thanks so much for taking out time to shed more light on the importance of incorporating breaker in the system but however, is surge protective device isn't twice as important as a circuit breaker. Please do u know how to do the mathematical calculation of the Amperage gauge required in a system

If you are fortunate to have your roof in the east and west trajectory of the sun. It's best to have some solar panels facing east to capture the early Sun and some facing west to capture same after noon.
The performance will be much better than having all your panels in the south direction. I'm a witness to this.

hahahahahaha, steep roof and you say 15 to 20 degrees??. naaah, most roofs are as from 40deg in nigeria...if steep then about 60 degrees. reconfirm that inclination, that may likely be the issue

Yes indeed, I am painfully watching my sunfit compete (and mostly) outperform my prime just because I have the prime on a steep roof for now.

Confirm if true South (ideal) versus magnetic South (works but not ideal). And verify the panel inclinations on both sides. The answer lies somewhere in there

Sunfit. Hmm. I have experience not with batteries but with tyres named Sunfit

I bought two new tyres branded as Sunfit about three months ago. One morning about a week ago as I set out on the road, the car was embarassinly dancing kpalongo on the road. Apparently overnight, one of the tires got seriously warped.

New tyres fah!

With that experience, I'll also avoid any batteries tagged sunfit.
