I beg to differ. Insults are something as they can cause severe emotional problems. Everyone has a threshold with which they can withstand verbal abuse. Let's not justify uncouth behaviors.

What you said is right cos you are looking at it from another angle but that doesn't mean that I didn't make sense in what I wrote up there.

Yea, it's long but I've seen people who served longer than me, well it's not that knowledge of the business it's hard to acquire but it's what we stand to gain at the end which is settlement with cash and goods(in some cases)

Let me explain further, in Igbo land a business man will go to the village and bring a young boy from the village to the city with the sole purpose of the boy serving him for a certain period of time(apprenticeship) and he will establish the boy at a the end of the said time with goods, cash and connection in most cases depends on the requirements of the business.

Go and make further research on Igbo apprenticeship system, it's a renowned worldwide wealth transfer system

okay na this is the problem with most people, they think they can learn a trade in one day, it doesn't work that way.

Those person that plan to learn in one or three months training will just be like a half baked physician who only has knowledge to open up patients for surgery but don't have knowledge for the surgery or closing up the patient.

Working for somebody does not give them the right to insult you, if your boss insult you, insult him back too and include his father and mother too and look for another job. They are so useless even sometimes acting as God

Does working for someone give them the license to insult you in Nigeria over a basic error

Nigeria is lawless, unregulated and unethical. You are lucky he didn't slap you. However, you don't have to put up with mannerless animals, confront him with the issue, let him know you don't approve of it and that you expect him to apologise and desist from talking to you like that next time.

It could cost you your job, because of the lawlessness, but then again, he could take it on board and learn some manners. Either way will be good for your morale.

Then, my Boss called me incompetents on one occasion and said I've failed on another occasion all in a month and on the staff whatsapp group, for the mistake he actually caused.. I never did like I saw those insult. Month end, he paid me. I concluded all I was doing that evening left the office and never went back there. I terminated my appointment through a whatsapp text to the HR. They called and called I didn't pick till they gave up.

Who said anything about learning in months? A year or two perhaps is OK for someone with a random learning limitation, seven years seems excessive and time-absorbing and "time" is very crucial in one's life establishment. Though some may think otherwise.

I learnt electrical maintenance for just two years and I've been using the knowledge so far and so good.

On a WhatsApp group? You ignore...

Face to face in public? You walk away...

If the insults persist and you're being insulted over any little thing, just know that your time in that organization has come to an end. cheesy
Respect yourself and tender your resignation.

Truly successful people always strive to leave their comfort zone. A toxic boss gives you the nudge you need to excel. Take the insults as your motivation to attain greater heights. Endure, learn, improve yourself, and leave. You'll thank him / her later.

Begging shouldn't be allowed here. Any Tom, Dick and Harry can post shit and say he or she is suffering from one thing or the other. Be sensible at all times, peeps. This is Nigeria cool
Re: Verbal Abuse Of Employees by judedwriter(m): 2:35pm On Jun 04, 2021
It all depends on your input.

A boss who values your input will NEVER verbally attack you especially in the midst of others.

If your input is poor, endure the criticism and try to be better.

But if your input is much, I would advise you to look for other job....

Stay where you are appreciated not tolerated.

Insult him/her in return. Fire for fire
Only if you have a second option, if fired.
Re: Verbal Abuse Of Employees by Amuroba: 5:17pm On Jun 04, 2021
I rather send some crews to beat him/her up when he is in feud with another fellow employee( I dislike). Probably when he least suspected.

But that's just emotions, which you will get over.

But you guys can really insult o why Nigerians? The least thing people are insulting you left right centre. Why?People are too sensitive, too proud, too arrogant. I have a Ghana-Nigeria cousin who now live in Ghana and she's so proud/arrogant, talks to people anyhow, disrespects the husband, has changed househelps uncountable times etc etc. Why? Whats wrong with some of you?
Home training it would seem.

He is the boss. Swallow it, sit up and move on. Keep working hard to make yourself indispensable and don't try to challenge the boss. It won't end well for you.

You sound just like them too, Being the Boss does not make you God, profanity is insane, if as a boss, you talk awkward, me as your staff will demand an apology from you or else. One person would end up with a damage face. Trust me, you can't stand me

Understand that he is your Boss and some of them can talk to you anyhow and you are expected to remain quiet and accept it without returning the insult back

But the best way to go is, you have to stop being forward, mind your business and avoid any kind of error that will lead to open disgrace.

Talk smart: what is bad is bad, your boss have no right to talk you down, mentally it's deranging. Don't allow the fear of what to eat make you loose sense.

Talk sense:
You can still walk out of the job if you can't fit in because you don't like the way your boss is talking down on you

Its his job, you are the one working for him, if you can't tolerate such you walk away
