Insecurity: FG sets up committee, moves to reduce youths leaving Nigeria

The Federal Government has commenced the process to fast track the operationalisation of the presidential deliverables to strengthen internal security.

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has set up a Task Force for the assignment.

A statement by the Director of Press, Blessing Lere-Adams said the Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Belgore inaugurated the committee.

Umaru Abu of the ministry is working with a team from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

The Task Force, chaired by the Director, Planning Research and Statistics, Kabiru Ayuba, would have representatives of the four services under the ministry, among others.

Aregbesola decried the rate at which young people are renouncing their citizenship of Nigeria.

He directed the committee to work with Citizenship and Business Department of the ministry on Expatriate Quota.

“1 believe this will go a long way in dissuading them from looking for greener pastures outside the shores of the country,” the minister said.

Among the presidential deliverables (2019 – 2023) is the ease of tourist visa requirements.

The recruitment, deployment and training of personnel in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) will be reviewed.

Also included is the implementation of the rehabilitation plan towards the decongestion of the Nigerian Correctional Centers.

Setting up a commite for such an issue that requires a long term directive to solve. Why this government always look for quick results is what baffles me.

This Nation is crumbling and we Nigerians should not watch it crumble and collapse totally. no matter how you try to run, no matter where you go a Yoruba adage will say a stranger can never be treated as a son. over there you're still that black Negro from a 3rd world shithole. why do you really have to run abroad and live a life next to a slave whilst ur country is blessed and the only thing needed to change things is for the citizens to rise against tyranny, nothing is working, people are hungry even in their poverty state lotta people can't still sleep or move out without fears of being Kidnapped. Edmund Burke would say “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Nigerians it's time to arise and make a change. come out June 12th and enforce a change, so not give fear a chance

The only way one can stop youth moving out is to develop an industrial economy...an economy not dependent on oil,but dependent on exporting goods and services for the global market.

We cannot, as a nation, remain dependent on selling raw materials and oil and sharing the money to import things...as it is causing crisis, and also more and more issues for us , and severe lack of jobs.

Nigeria must industrialize. It is our only solution.

emigrating from Nigeria can, most times, be a game changer for anybody’s career. This is because there are more job opportunities out there for Nigerians, compared to the ones they would ever have access to back home. This is why more Nigerians keep striving to leave. They will keep striving to leave, so long as the economic situation in the country remains as bleak as it is today. Unfortunately, Nigeria keeps losing its brightest minds and most agile labour force to other countries.

Mad people. Na thunder go fire all of una. If the country is working fine, why should the youths be leaving in droves. They should also ban all politicians from going abroad for medical treatment and also ban their children from schooling abroad too. Idiots.
