eduj:For saner people in government anywhere in the world, development does not concentrate on one place and spread to other places like you stated. It has always been build infrastructures in Enugu, build in Onitsha, in Owerri, in Aba, in etc of old East Central State at the same time. |

eduj:Wicked. What school did you attend that taught you this falsehood? It’s like you people don’t have conscience as you preach this your Imo governors developing Owerri megalopolis thing while the rest of Imo state dry up. How about let Owerri wait for government to develop Abuja to grow and expand to Owerri forming one Abuja Metropolitan areas including Owerri? Some of you need correctional services. To blame are the last three governors of Imo state who deformed the devt pattern of the state set out by Mbakwe. These governors are like they’re schooled to believe that only state capital deserve government attention in a state. I used to go to the state library in Owerri opened by then Enugu based East Central State government, for example. But since Imo state got created from East Central State, no state library has been allowed to exist outside Owerri. No tertiary education institution, no ministry, nothing owned by government in Imo state was allowed to exist or survive outside Owerri. Why, why, why?? |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nobody: 1:27am On Jun 07, 2021 |
Nchenches:your analogy is flawed because 1) owerri has a governor different from Abuja 2) did you know how many percent of Nigerias Annual budget is dedicated to Abuja every year? While the federal roads in the East got bad, wasn't 10 and 8 lane roads being built in central Abuja ? Nigeria sank billions of Naira to build Abuja (and even with our collective might, and more than 10 years 40% of Abuja is still underdeveloped) today Abuja is among the top 2 FDI earners in Nigeria yearly. Even Mbakwe didn't develope the whole of old imo state at the same time. The way some of you guys speak, one will think that 100 percent of infrastructure in imo is built only in owerri. Even a primary school student this days know about the economic principle -scale of preference and it's attendant opportunity cost- why ? because while need is infinite, resources is finite. Dubai the standard for cities in this century wasn't built up at once. Just mention a state in the world that built up it's infrastructure evenly at once? if you take this outlook into your business,it will fail. Even you making noise here do not share your resources equally among those dependent on you, you prioritize based on importance or like. Imo state government should focus more on areas from which it derives more revenue while paying attention to other regions- simple You guys should avoid emotionally analysing issues and please be civil when you want to make a point, no need to resort to insults .Make your point like a matured man an not like some untrained kid. |

eduj:In bold: Ohaji-Egbema-Oguta-Oru axis is the oil and gas producing area in Imo state, therefore should have become more developed than Owerri if we go by your bolded account that Imo state government must concentrate development in the area it gets money from. How much per month do you think that IMSG derives from these hotels in Owerri? Or is it that chicken change levies from traders in Owerri to the state government which is not even enough to clear mountains of refuse daily piling on the streets of Owerri due to overpopulation of the city deriving from seizure by Owerri of all institutions and amenities that encourage urban development in Imo state only in Owerri? Bottom line: go to Europe, go to America, go to Asia, go to even the states surrounding Imo state, none of these places can you see the state or regional headquarters in a century of modern development ahead of rest of the state or region, as it is in Imo state. Governments spread development infrastructures all over its regions or state to encourage uniformity in the development of the region or state. Mbakwe started it in old Imo state; Owerri people in conjunction with poorly educated governors distorted the plan of Mbakwe after the present Imo state came to be. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nobody: 7:57pm On Jun 08, 2021 |
Nchenches:it isn't possible.Mbakwe invested more in owerri ( because it's the capital )and Aba than any other city, heaven didn't fall. It isn't practically possible to develope every part of a state uniformly and at the same time.Am not saying that other places like orlu shouldn't get infrastructure, but focus should be put into places that have more economic value in imo. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nchenches: 8:28pm On Jun 08, 2021 |
eduj:Do you know that the biggest investment of Mbakwe government in old Imo state was the ultramodern regional water supply system? The five major cities in the old Imo state - namely, Aba, Umuahia, Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe were meant to have each of the gigantic and most expensive water supply projects. Evan Enwwrem carried on with only Owerri water supply project. The others were abandoned- billions of Naira gone. Mbakwe built 21 mini industries for the 21 LGAs. He established 5 industrial zones in each of the then budding cities. Mbakwe government through federal aid rebuilt Aba Urban roads. Umuahia urban roads were also rebuilt. If it were periods after Mbakwe, only Owerri urban roads would be built; as minions propound the theory of limited funds, hence only Owerri state capital deserves attention of IMSG. Midgets in government house buy the theory. Rest of Imo state decays. |

Nchenches:Am not saying that other cities should be totally abadoned, but all am saying is that priority is given to some areas of more importance. You are deliberately twisting my words.Rochas built a secondary school in almost every community in imo state, he built a health center in all the lga's but you and I know that most of his resources was invested in owerri. Even the mbakwe you use as an example invested more in urban areas than rural areas. He spent billions building the concord hotel in owerri and the enyimba hotels in Aba.The industrial estate he built in Aba. During his time, some people also accused him of focusing on some particular area-so this debate didn't begin today and it won't end today. |
