+ Njoku Macdonald Obinna Owerri, Imo State. I have remained an avowed believer in the Nigerian Project ; her unity in diversity , cultural heritage , most friendly climate , green and lush vegetation , rich natural and human resources, numerical strength as the largest black nation in the world, land of possibilities and opportunities, beautiful tourist sites , the commercial hub of African market and destination choice of foreign investors . Despite contrary opinions of the above , Nigeria has been less than fortunate in its leadership. A basic element of this misfortune is the seminal absence of intellectual rigour in the political thought of our leaders - a tendency to militaristic approach to governance and pious materialistic woolliness and self - centred pedestrianism. However , the unpatriotic , callous , careless, mischievous and insensitive clarion call for another civil war by Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as captured in his official twetter handle has exposed his poverty of thought as a leader who lacks the intellectual propensity to lead a rather heterogeneous country like Nigeria with divergent ethnic groups , religions , different cultural and language nuances . Reading his twetted statement , Gen. Muhammadu Buhari was quoted to have said: `` Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occured during the Nigeria's civil war. Those of us in the fields for 30 months , who went through the war , will treat them in the language they understand .`` What a careless statement? What a president of a nation ? It is quite unfortunate! While many Nigerians home and abroad have condemned such inhuamne, babaric , wicked , destructive and divisive statement from a supposed leader of a nation who should be a father figure to all, the Admin of Twetter diplomatically and unceremoniously deleted the warmongering unpresidential statement of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. The above statement has continued to create doubt in the minds of many Nigerians , who already , have their reservations about the real man in full control of Aso Villa; as Shehu Garba and Lai Muhammed are seen as the ones running the show in the Presidency through their provocative defenses and untamed careless press releases . It also gives credence to people's biases about the perceived or alleged hatred of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari against the South Easterners; ndi Igbo in particular. It seems President Muhammad Buhari has an Igbo problem, just like most of the Northerners and Southerners , although not all! The Igbos live in a country where they are described as being too ambitious, domineering, aggressive, greedy , arrogant and clannish . This is understandably so , as the origin of this national resentment of the Igbo is as old as Nigeria and also quite complicated . The Igbo culture , being receptive to change , individualistic , and highly competitive , gave the Igbo man an unquestioned advantage over his compatriots in securing creditentials for advancement in Nigerian colonial society . That is simply their grouse against the Igbo nation. Naturally enterprising average Igbo man doesn't depend on government for his survival. An Igbo spare parts dealer in Lagos , Onitsha, Aba , Kano or Sokoto can do better than a Senator who had served 8 years in the Senate. It is their calling ; and the envy of other ethnic nationalities. The Nigeria–Biafra war that raged between 1967 and 1970 made headlines around the world, above all for the major famine in the secessionist enclave of Biafra, and prompted a major international relief. It was a genuinely global event. Yet by the late 1970s, it was seldom talked about outside Nigeria. Unfortunately, the post colonial conflict and the question of genocide which had not been addressed, keeps haunting the body politic of Nigeria as agitation for self determination lingers on. Millions of Igbos died out of starvation including; pregenant women, nursing mothers and children even as some families were completely wiped out ! The dangers of war is better imagined than witnessed for the second time . No nation survives war for the second time , go and make deep research ! It is therefore , very insensitive of Buhari and his handlers to have made this carless threat of state sponsored genocide , ethnic cleansing and mass murder. It is only a dictator , emperor, heartless leader and political vampire that could ever think of such at a trying and boiling time like this . This exhibited despotic leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari and his perceived hatred for ndi Igbo is what Nnamdi Kanu of the proscribed Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) cashed into to become a shinning star and celebrated international figure today ! Just as Femi Fana- Kayode (FFK) asked : Can you blame those that want to establish Biafra when the President of Nigeria can say such things and issue such threats? 4thestatereporters
