The original settlers of Onitsha (the main Onitsha which is the Inland Town) were the Igbo-speaking people called Oze. The Igala were a canoeing and fishing people who came to trade and settled at the Waterside. It was on the land taken from the Oze people (whom the Onitsha immigrants from west of the Niger massacred) that Onitsha Town was founded.

I was Insulted and banned from an Igbo group recently because i told them that I'm Ngwa and that Ngwa has Ibibio and Efik heritage...
