This shows you are not conversant with US sanctions.
It is not an on or off switch matter and there are hundreds of sanctions that the average person
will not even know exists. And it usually have an endgame.
Did you know that Obama sanctioned Nigeria?
Well, that didn't stop US products from being shipped here.

BTW, there is no ally anywhere that will follow the US lead over some petty issue, if you mean US puppets, those ones are already
useless to the Nigerian economy.

I know it sound strange that blanket sanction decisions aren't made based on whims or revenge
but that is the reality.

Nope.
Nigeria was importing fuel long before Abacha came into power.
The refineries failed for the reason other government run businesses failed.
Sanctions could come in various forms. I answered questions abouts us ptoducts in nigeria.
On nnpc , nnpc refineries were more effective before us sanctions in Abacha regime.after the sanctions, most foreign oil workers maintining the refineries left. After return of democrazy in 1999, obj was spending heavily on TAM but years of bad maintenance led to collapse of refineries. You can verify further.

Social media is not a merchandise, in fact, they beg countries to accept them e.g China.
How does those used products improve the economy?

I will not let any of this country's citizen use US-made software because Twitter was banned will be the most stupid proposal ever
made by an American politician.
How do you think social media companies make their billions? The used products don't improve the economy, that's the point. We'll be forced to rely on our own social media like China, and we'd be forced to improve our locally made products

Look at this cow. Stop people from relocating abroad as to what?

Politicians in govt should be sanctioned. I don't support any sanction that'll affect the citizens

No country is an Island.

Even people in US and SK relocate.
In a supposed democracy, that will be against freedom of movement

I noticed that our news don't really make headlines in developed countries so it seems nobody really cares about us that much. So if the Big 4 (US, UK Canada, EU) decide to impose trade sanctions on us over allegations of unchecked human rights abuses, and we can't trade oil and goods for a while, what will happen to us?
What makes you think they are not aware? They just cannot do anything. Or better still, Twitter may not be a priority. Ask yourself what they have done about the Kashoggi incident.

the refineries died because of corruption. TAM were paid for but we're not carried out.

If this democratic party government sanction Nigeria, we embrace China completely and give our support to Donald Trump who most likely will remove the useless sanction.

Saudi is a big US ally and trade partner in the Middle East, very influential in OPEC, and the former US President had other interests as well. The case in Nigeria is one in which the opposition is documenting plenty of human rights violations, most notably the ENDSARS movement to which Biden himself made a statement before becoming president. Twitter ban is another step towards silencing dissenting voices... the point is, the present government has become unpopular and also lost it’s relevance in the international community, sanctions will further stifle them of financial resources and bring them on the negotiating table

Don’t forget the UK abandoned its 5G deal with China because of its US relationship. China will even abandon Nigeria for its own trade deals with the US

Yes, the UK did because it had to chose between the US and China, but the US will inevitably push us to China with sanction. Sanctioning Nigeria will leave us with no choice.
Secondly, the state of US-china relationship is in not so positioned to give China the opportunity to leverage it's relations with the US using Nigeria.

No country In this world can survive USA sanction ... let’s be honest

See Huawei today .. they’re a goner.

If a whole UK can abandon her 5G deal with China in order to maintain her relationship with USA , that should tell you how influential USA is in international politics..

Nigeria can never survive US sanction..

We will be worst than Uganda and Zimbabwe...

Dem never ban us, a sachet of pure water is 20 naira, 1$ is almost 500 naira using btc rate, what if dem kon ban us?

Omo e go choke.. and I can see one clown up there saying dem should ban relocating and importation .. lmao, u think u go survive huh

And turning to China for help will just put us in ever lasting debt and agony

most of the so-called human rights abuse calls have only referenced #endsars. Thesame endsars that was turned into an insurrection. Nigeria is a market that no country can ignore. The reason these guys are talking is because Twitter is from their country. They won't scream if it were a local station or social media platform that is banned. The truth is that, all the noise about Twitter ban is just on face value, it is not worth any diplomatic stress in the name of sanction. If they were serious, the Killing of Shia protesters years bank should have led to sanctions, but nothing was done.

Many e.g HP, Internet, Microsoft, iPhones etc. Not only US, her allies will also punish us. Ask Abacha.
Nnpc is not functioning now because most expatriates maintaining the refineries left the country after US sanction during abacha regime.
You even forgot that the Android OS which powers up to 70% of all mobile devices in Nigeria is owned by Google, a US company

Nigeria is a market no country can ignore? I’m sure you mean it can’t be ignored by countries like South Africa, with MTN and Shoprite? Do Nigerians have buying power? Our budget is only $35 billion dollars annually for a population of 200 million while South Africa budget is close to $100 billion for a population of about 58 million. Nigeria earns only $100 million from the internet while South Africa earns over $9 billion. So where is your data of how valuable Nigeria is to the world coming from?

Zimbabwe has largely recovered, after successfully redistributing their land from whites only to ALL citizens, despite evil western sanctions.

After decades of starvation, hunger and inflation? Don’t forget Zimbabwe population is only about 7% of Nigeria population. Our economy is struggling already and I don’t think we want more problems.

The Zimbabwean sanctions were the price the masses were willing to pay to give a future and stake in their country to their succeeding generations, rather than remain perpetual slaves and tenants to a minority white population on their own ancestral land.

Tell me what exactly Nigeria needs from the West which it cannot either manufacture by itself, or purchase from China, India, Brazil, Russia, etc?

You don't measure the spending power of a population by the size of the annual budget, which is simply the money accruing to the FG in a year, but by GDP, which calculates the sum total of all economic activity in a nation in a given year.

By that calculation, Nigeria, with an annual GDP if 1.16 TRILLION dollars calculated by PPP (Purchasing Power Parity), far surpasses any African nation.

And that figure will only increase in the years ahead, with Nigeria projected to become the 3rd most populous nation and biggest consumer market on Earth after India and China by 2050.

Nigeria cannot be bullied by the west.

VictorUSA:

If a tiny country with few resources like Zimbabwe could survive, Nigeria can MORE THAN survive. She could actually thrive as a result, like Iran did.

After the west imposed sanctions, Iran began building her own power plants, fighter jets and commercial aircraft.

Before the sanctions they were importing all those things.

So the west might be doing us a favour by imposing sanctions.

It might even help unify the country.

Nothing unifies like collective victimisation.
