bidexiii: They shouldn't offer boarding services Sha, no school in the north should be doing that. Even higher institutions, they should seek accommodation on their own, the fees will be reduced significantly Sha. This way, it will be difficult for students/pupils abductors to abduct large numbers. |

if they can attack police stations in broad day light, what's stopping them from abducting these girls during the day time. security is a joke over there. the days of criminals carrying out their atrocities during the night time is over. i won't risk sending my kid to any school if i live in such an area. if not for lack of infrastructure, online learning would be better. that's because we aren't good at controlling the narrative. the fg should give grants to our own tech companies and help them build rival platforms to whatsapp, fb, youtube etc. Then Nigerians can use these platforms, i for one hate the dominance of the US social media companies. They think Nigerians can no longer voice their concerns or express themselves because Twitter got banned? Oh the arrogance. Aren't we on here right now expressing ourselves? twitter not needed for that. it's insane that people all over the world are trusting their data to these foreign companies, without knowing what they are doing with it. every intelligence agencies can access all that data. i believe china was the country that made sure data of their citizens never leave their shores or shared with any foreign govt. Sizzorkay: The goal here is to reduce exposure time of students from 24hrs to less than 8hrs. It will also ensure that other security measures employed for protection of schools will have reduced work hours. And kidnapping large number of students is different from hit and run, virtually all the mass abductions occurred during dark hours, they will need the cover of darkness to escape as far away from civilization as possible where risk of detection will be minimal. 1 Like |

SamuelAnyawu: It is the government they have issues with not the people. Sanctions against members of the government will be more appropriate and that's what they do most of the time. If they have been trying to cut cost though, this is a good excuse. And it's not like US is really interested in freedom of expression, it is either lip service or trying to pressurize government to do their bidding. There are several US backed government across the world doing far worse and they are not concerned. Even US deals with dissidents brutally. Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange comes to mind. 4 Likes |

Sizzorkay: There are many state schools here in the deep field and classes are ongoing. Many are sponsored by USAID/EU and DFID grant under Education in Emergency. Some of the teachers are even paid through NGOs and students sometimes fed once a day self. There are no boarding schools in the deep field. Even the Federal Government girls Monguno was moved to Maiduguri. |

Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector of General of Police, arrived in Lagos State on Wednesday to a cold welcome, as he was booed by Lagosians around Oshodi-Anthony Expressway while en route to an event. Alkali’s mission in the state is yet to be known. However, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, told FIJ the IGP had just landed and his address or comments would soon be made known. In preparation for the arrival of the IGP, Lagos State Police officials blocked the Oshodi-Lagos Airport Road and Maryland-Ojota axis of the highway. The blockage of the highway did not go down well with Lagosians, who were stuck in traffic for hours. As the IGP’s convoy passed the blocked road, the already-pent-up crowd booed and called him names in Yoruba. While some shouted “thief”, others screamed “you will never do well”. The IGP’s visit comes three days to the June 12 nationwide protests that have been planned to take place at Freedom Park, Ojota. The protests are against bad governance under the Buhari regime, with the recent ban on Twitter adding to mounting displeasure of Nigerians against the government. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-Ade8-1xHo https://fij.ng/article/breaking-igp-alkali-booed-on-arrival-in-lagos-video/ This country just dey go backward. Dem dey block road because of IGP instead make the people block the other road and let him know say e no fit pass, dem just dey boo. Nigerians are not ready for this country to move forward. See as IGP motorcade long again. A country that have the highest number of people living in extreme poverty. The way civil servants dey blow money for this country eh No wander IGPs are always against state police 1 Like |
