Dumbo, Nigeria's annual budget based on its earnings last year was 35 billion dollars, NOT 8 billion, plus Nigeria's annual GDP is 1.16 TRILLION dollars.

So Twitter, which earned 1.2 billion dollars last year, not 3 billion like you falsely claimed, is an invisible ant compared to NIGERIA.

Will You stop disgracing yourself here. What has Twitter revenue got to do with Nigeria's budget ? You are talking about purchasing power parity, what has that got to do here? Is budget not an estimate of income and expenditure ? The purchasing power of an individual is dependent on Per Capital Income. With our budget deficit , budget financed most of the times from borrowing and large population with parasites nations of Niger and Chad that are not accounted for, what is the per capita income of an average Nigerian?.

University of California annual budget is almost Nigeria's annual budget in the last few years. Budget for Education and research only. There are three States in US that are richer than France. The 3% digital tax placed in 2019 on Google, Amazon and Facebook by France is purely for commercial purposes and Trump complained. You run a mono economy based mainly on Niger Delta oil ,you are comparing Nigeria GDP with South Africa with very little population and heavy infrastructure and industries and budget that is almost four times that of Nigeria in some years.

Do you even know the relationship between budget and population of a country and development indices ? You cannot cutoff Nigerians from global social platforms and try to bring cattle rearer nomadic economic theory here. You cannot compare Dangote Industries -a conglomerate developed from commonwealth of Nigerian resources to a technology platform. There are conglomerates in US that are richer than some States in Nigeria.

Late Henry Boyo (rip) did a lot. The nomadic economic theory never allowed his work to be seen. Bismarck Rewane, Charles SOLUDO and others are here trying their best. If it's not Cryptocurrency today, it is Twitter tomorrow, next week Patanmi may say nobody should use GSM phones again. How are we going to escape from nomadic lifestyle and principles ?

The Nigerian economy would not have gotten to this level if the IT penetration is not deepened through these social platforms and resilience of the youths. Nigeria has not grown to the level of censorship of technology platform except you want to run an Islamic state extremists system, shutting citizens from outside world and caging of intellect.

When the North was in power through military, Nigeria communication was shut off. No Internet, Nitel monopoly through the North denied 95% of Nigerians from communication.

You want to start that again under Buhari ? Baba Akande, Tinubu, Fashola, Akeredolu, this is not what you told us.

Buhari has 99 problems but certainly Twitter isn't one of them.

Aboki nor even know wetin be Facebook let alone Twitter or Instagram, it's no use to them, as a matter of fact SM is Haram to this people.

If a leader is being tyrannish and dictatoric, no problem as long as the people have everything they need provided and at ease like North Korea and china with Russia. These country may not be outright dictators but they have strict rules that put their people in check also these countries have everything a citizen could need and wouldn't need outside.

But in Nigeria... We have nothing, yet you want to force your spoons in our mouth?... Not going to work.

I don't agree to that.

And funny enough they don't even have an office in nigeria.

Just how will Nigerians lose more bro?
don't use yourself as an example I am talking based on those who are into digital marketing tech guys and ecommerce.
Because you aren't losing doesn't make others do.
I know many that have lost their job because of no access to twitter. This people collect between 800-3000$ monthly

Which Nigerian job gives that?

Twitter is a private company in business to make money.

What the hell would they be doing in Nigeria if it's not going to make money?

Are Twitter a charity?

How do these people think?
It means they will go and meet CAC and be registered, then it means they will be taxable right?

The G7 Summit on international businesses to pay tax isn’t too far from this, what makes you think we Nigerians aren’t balls deep enough to tax these countries too? When is Nigeria going to start economic arbitrage like the world leaders? Look into the bigger picture, let’s take advantage of this loophole as youths and encourage our programmers to develop an alternative to Twitter, probably the rise of something great in Africa at large.

If you are not a media buyer, please just shut your mouth and face your BMC job in "pieces". They do not need Nigeria. Instead, Nigeria needs them.

Nigerians are cowards. They always live with the shit thrown at them from their demon inspired leaders and that's why the devils keep dishing out more shit which my people swallow and say e go better. Ain't it time the people realized that power truly belongs to them, I mean these oppressors at not up to one percent of the entire population but they have made the entire people docile and fearful. What a shame.

Cutting these platforms will have crazy repercussions on the country's GDP.

The world has gone far beyond this. Yes, Twitter would like to connect with the large number of enterprising youths in Nigeria but of what use is one administration to them? Soldier go, soldier comes, Twitter is still there? You forgot that Twitter completely took down the account of a sitting US President. How did that affect their business? Where is that account now? They just banned it for another 2 years. You may have forgotten that a section of the house has already asked Nigerians to continue to use Twitter.

Facebook rubbed salt on the injury when they deleted the same tweet government complained about. Please is FB not scared of Nigeria? And why has the government not banned FB?

In my opinion, what we have just done is cheap publicity for Twitter. When government lifts the ban you will see how many people will jump to have accounts, those that did nt even think of opening Twitter before now.
Are you saying Twitter wasn't that popular?
