Agbegbaorogboye: You are the one who doesn't know about it. Oil is in Agadem, not Agadez. And taking the oil first to capital Niamey before moving it to the port is like having an item manufactured in the SE and going to Cameroon first coming to the capital of Nigeria Abuja before going to Cameroon Go and learn African Geography. |

MoIbrahim:Check what? Niger has a refinery with a 35k barrel capacity while it's oilfields produces about 15k barrel. So where's the differential for export? Can you show us the exports? |
Re: Buhari Defends $1.9 Billion Nigeria-Niger Republic Railway Project by Agbegbaorogboye: 5:48pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
MoIbrahim:Niger does not export oil. Show us their oil exports. They're even struggling to provide feed for their refinery |

drediamond: If Lagos can build the blue line, I see no reason the 17 Southern states cannot leverage the finance and resources to build the Southern lines. We need to start holding these state governor to account, especially now that Nigeria has an incompetent president, the state needs to step up their game. |

MoIbrahim:Fear what? Are you going to beat me? Niger was even planning to build a pipeline from Agadem to Chad in preparation of expanding their oil production. That's because there's a pipeline from Chad to Cameroon port. It has not materialized as expected but that's to show you that Lagos, Nigeria can't be a preferred destination for oil export because of a rail. Or you self reason. Between rail and pipeline, which one is faster, efficient and cheaper to transport crude? |
Re: Buhari Defends $1.9 Billion Nigeria-Niger Republic Railway Project by MoIbrahim: 6:15pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
Agbegbaorogboye: As at 2016 it started exporting to Chad and Cameroon. Recently it signed MoU with Nigeria, and other countries. Go and check. You are following the old underestimation of the oil reserve which has been corrected a few years ago |
Re: Buhari Defends $1.9 Billion Nigeria-Niger Republic Railway Project by MoIbrahim: 6:18pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
Agbegbaorogboye: Exporting to Chad and Cameroon is selling to those countries o, not as routes. Rail transport of goods is not ordinary "a rail" in word economy. |

Saifullah01: All this your analysis is the same with excuses given by Buhari . They are for nomadic education graduates. There's no any logic or economic benefits other than the fact that he has cousins in Niger Republic. There is no any benefit to Nigeria other than Buhari helping his AREWA brothers in Niger and Chad. He said he doesn't want Benin Republic where Yoruba have cousins to benefit from Niger oil exports and International trade. He closed Lagos Borders against Yoruba cousins while he constructs railway line to his own Cousins country. Everything he said was against Benin Republic as if Niger and Chad are not Parasites on Nigeria already . They want to run pipeline from Refinery in Chad to Nigeria to help his brothers. Obasanjo is the major problem of the Yorubas. An old man from Abeokuta told me in 2010. He is an Oluwo. He said Obasanjo will never be allowed to become Olori Oluwo and they did that. There is no any justification in what Buhari is doing for Niger Republic and Chad other than as AREWA brothers who may be useful during war between North and South. They will be disappointed. 1 Like 1 Share |

MoIbrahim:Oya show evidence that Niger exported oil to Chad and Cameroon Show evidence there's an MoU with Nigeria to export oil thru Nigeria. Mind you, Amaechi claimed he went to beg them to allow him build that rail. I hope it's not true begging spree you're referring to as MoU. Show the corrections |

MoIbrahim:Why will Niger sell oil to Chad and Cameroon when they have oil too. Do you even know what you're saying? It's just like Nigeria selling oil to Angola. Ok. Explain rail in world economy |

Re: Buhari Defends $1.9 Billion Nigeria-Niger Republic Railway Project by drediamond(m): 6:33pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
Agbegbaorogboye: Lol, you two fellows should please just let this go. You both have a point, but it is not only about oil. I was skeptical before about the project but with better understanding I think it was the right decision. If we do not do this soon enough we might regret it later. The project is strategic to counter Benin's influence economically in Niger. Opening up maradi through the north to the southern part of Nigeria will enable business transport goods and agricultural product easily between the two nations and capture the vast terrain market, as well as chad and beyond. Benin will be no match. Also more than half of central and eastern Niger will prefer to trade through kano and the rest of Nigeria if there is a better alternative. Remember the Acfta deal, We offer a bigger market to Niger and can use this as leverage and capture their import and export business. We need to start wielding our influence in the region for our advantage. Also if there are no other ongoing rail projects in Nigeria then we can start to criticize heavily. Can you imagine if in the future all Niger and chad imports and exports business goes through Cotonou? We will be here still blaming the government for their lack of foresight or vision. 1 Like |
