You people can jump to conclusions. Where did you read it that the compensation is for house destroyed?

The compensation varies in degrees depending on what the government destroyed. That is the reason you are seeing different amounts being given. For some people it's just the land the government took over, for some just the fence of the house that went, some didnt even deserve any compensation (because they built on unauthorized land) but they were still given something.

So whose fault with your above ranting? Citizens building on unauthorized land is whose fault? The citizen or the government? What you don't understand is that lands belongs to different people in Nigeria. It can belong to community, aboriginals and state? So sad that it is only when the government wants to claim lands that do cite some outdated laws? There should be a very clear definition of land in Nigeria. Do you know that the said land in question are mostly sold by the Omo oniles? Some will even sell to more than two people. They will take it to the court and the court will still award the said unauthorized land to the one with the better argument. Your said government land. grin grin

The earlier we all believe we don't have a government, the better it will be for all of us. E shock you?
