Truthshots23:I can't see the name of those different kingdoms well. Different kingdoms were existing in the Niger delta before the creation of southern Nigeria. Calabar kingdom is different from Bonny kingdom and also have nothing in common with the Benin kingdom and the Isekiri kingdom. The British conquered all those territories and more in the southern part of what is now called Nigeria So which community are you from in Cross River state, stop all this attache by force wey you dey do because of oil. |

DubaiLandLord:I guess you know history better than eyewitnesses to actual history. I brought you a document drawn by eyewitnesses, and you serve me your beliefs. I guess you did some time traveling back in the days. The niger Delta was entirely part of Benin kingdom as proven by all precolonial maps and documents. Why do you guys love to debate against proven facts ? Against reality. |

He has promised things will change in the northwest in coming weeks, I really hope it will be so. He is so disconnected from the reality of Nigeria and isn't ready to play beyond the rules. |

He is a Benin man as you say, but he is also Anioma, is he not ? You have difficulties understanding very simple things...I am not going to debate my ethnicity or identity with you. I am also not going to debate the future with you. You don't know anything. Divide nigeria Now ! The fact is Benin man refers to way more people than you think, weirdly even after seeing the maps you still don't get it. I keep forgetting this is the guy who believed the british created the niger delta. What a waste of time exchanging with this child. |

Covert1:Lacks qualities of a leader and unfortunately with his approach to governance, things might not get better. Listen from 11:14, his answer to open grazing and still fantasising about cattle routes spanning the country from colonial times. Implications are continued clashes and deploying youths in the army or security outfits to sacrifice their well being in order to clean up his misGovernance. For a President already showing signs of ethnic favouritism, mentioning his Cousins in Niger as one of the reasons he'll be building a rail should not matter. Simply state the economic reasons and move on. Even that, I await to see clear cut feasibility studies regarding benefits as read Niger still prefers use of ports and roads in Benin Republic due to ease of imports and straightforward logistics (Ref: Kaduna dry port) There's also a Cotonou to Maradi rail under construction and further into Niamey even though massively delayed or with funding issues. If completed, do the maths which will be preferred. |

DubaiLandLord:I do so too, but it's not like the FG is spending any money to build the railway to Niger Rep. There is an original plan to build a standard gauge railway from Lagos to Kano, the Abuja - Kaduna, Lagos - Ibadan sections being completed are part of the route. Maradi - Kano railway would be funded by banks from Europe facilitated by the company carrying out the project, Mota Engil. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/443294-german-banks-eu-agencies-to-fund-kano-maradi-railway-ambassador-tuggar.html Also kicking-off this year would be the rehabilitation of the Eastern railway corridor, from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri. The commencement of the Coastal railway has majorly been held off by ferocious local opposition to Chinese equity, Ameachi even complained bitterly about this https://www.globalconstructionreview.com/news/nigeria-has-been-waiting-year-53bn-chinese-loan-ra/ But there are talks of getting the loan from a Western bank instead, https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-06-10/nigeria-taps-stanchart-to-replace-china-loans-for-rail-projects negotiations could take years and cause delay, politicians are very stupid. |

Regarding the deep blue project, with two surveillance aircrafts, three helicopters and three drones, is the plan 24/7 surveillance of Nigeria's waters? Are there plans for replacement of equipments as they get older? Are there plans for expansion of the program? Is there any plan for continuity or is it a one-off intervention? Are there plans to make the project self-sustaining by income generation or will it continue to depend on the government for fueling, repairs, maintenance and so on? |

ugo4u:The main advantage of local production is job creation and reasonable rate of inflation, local production doesn't necessarily reduce price but stabilises inflation rate. For instance, compare the percentage change in price of cement from 2003 till 2021 Vs %change in price of Rice during the same timeframe, you'll see a very huge gap. If we have been refining PMS since 2003, I'm sure the price of PMS will not even be close to 100naira per litre today. Dangote refinery isn't going to end importation tho as it cannot meet total demand. But if we can secure the borders and end smuggling, it will be able meet total demand. |
| Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by lebuhsi(m): 8:33am On Jun 11, 2021 |
youghs:It can and will meet local demand atleast X2 over, Nigeria's consumption of energy a day(including smuggling) is 428,000 barrels per day (B/d), with PMS consumption of 38,200,000ltrs https://www.dpr.gov.ng/national-fuel-situation-status-report/ Dangote's refinery is a 650,000b/d refinery, 53% of refining would be dedicated to PMS That is 7.51billion litres a year, do the maths https://nairametrics.com/2019/08/01/petrol-to-gulp-53-of-dangote-refinerys-daily-production/ |
| Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by ugo4u: 10:43am On Jun 11, 2021 |
youghs:If his plant works at full capacity he will meet our demand and even have excess for export. Our daily consumption is about 60million litres daily and Dangote refinery can do 600k barrels a day which is equivalent to 95million litres. |

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, on Thursday met with major-generals, Air vice Marshals and the rear admirals who are members of the Regular Course 36 and senior to the new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Farouk Yahaya. The meeting was convened with a view to tactically easing out no fewer than 70 major generals, AVMs and rear admirals out of the service, The PUNCH can authoritatively report. The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), had skipped 29 major-generals and appointed Yahaya who is a member of Regular Course 37, a move which has been generating controversy in the last two weeks. Irabor subsequently asked members of Course 36 to proceed on courses of their choice and to no longer report at their duty posts. The Thursday meeting was sequel to a letter marked DH/ABJ/401/38/ADM dated June 4, 2021 which was marked ‘restricted’ but was obtained by our correspondent. The letter was signed by Rear Admiral AB Adamu on behalf of the CDS. It read in part, “Ref A (NOTAL) under the cover of Ref B (NOTAL) approved the commencement of annual leave in respect of Maj Gen JB Olawunmi (N/8795) and 28 others who are members of 36RC in the NA. The snr offrs (senior officers) were to proceed on the annual leave wef 1-30 June. However, I am directed to invite all serving members of 36 RC in the AFN (Maj Gen and equivalent) to a meeting with the CDS as follows. Thursday, June 10, 21; DHQ Conference Hall; 11.00hrs prompt.” It was learnt that Irabor, based on approval from the Federal Ministry of Defence, asked all the members of regular course 36 across the three services to proceed on courses of their choice for the next one year. A general, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said, “Gen Irabor made it clear to everyone that because all course 36 members of the army who are seniors of the current Chief of Army Staff, are being eased out, it would be wrong to retain their course mates in other services. “To this end, all air vice marshals in the air force and all rear admirals in the navy that are members of Course 36 have been affected. They will not be allowed to continue to report at their respective services or at DHQ. The intention is to get all to resign without forcing them to do so.” The source said some of the generals would go to the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies while others would go to the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria on course. When asked why the military was taking the action, the general added, “The military now has a tradition whereby when a new chief of any of the branches is appointed, all those who senior him, including those who are in other arms of the military, are eased. This was how members of the Regular Course 35 were all eased out in February.” https://punchng.com/cds-meets-military-chiefs-prepares-70-generals-for-exit/ |

Unknown gunmen have attacked Ojoto Police Station in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state. SaharaReporters gathered that the gunmen in three Toyota Sienna vehicles struck on Thursday and killed one police inspector. The incident is the latest in what appears to be a growing trend of attacks on police stations and security personnel in the South-East region of the country. The governors in the region recently announced the establishment of a joint security outfit, codenamed ‘Ebube Agu’ to battle rising insecurity. http://saharareporters.com/2021/06/10/unknown-gunmen-attack-anambra-police-station-kill-officer |

There is apprehension in Eke-Onuimo, in the Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo state following the abduction of 15 passengers along Enugu-Port Harcourt Road by suspected herdsmen. The passengers were travelling on two separate buses when the herdsmen stopped them along the Arondizuogu-Okigwe stretch of the road, Daily Trust reports. According to an eyewitness, the kidnappers marched all the passengers of one bus into the Bush. It was learnt that some passengers on the second bus managed to escape but the whereabouts of the passengers were still unknown as of the time of filing this report. The police have yet to comment on the incident and the spokesperson for the state command, SP Bala Elkana, could not be reached calls to his mobile line were not answered. http://saharareporters.com/2021/06/10/suspected-herdsmen-kidnap-15-bus-passengers-imo |

DubaiLandLord:This whole nonsense because of Buhari's ineptitude. Wonder who is advising him in the presidency and the defense ministry but I bet this must be from a child at Aso Rock. Now he has done that the defense ministry gives the go ahead and the CDS has to become innovative about the place of these highly qualified Generals the president was aloof to see beyond his nose because of bare nepotism. Creating unnecessary discontent. Tell me what GEN. Yahaya is going to do that GEN. Yusuf can't do. I mean next to GEN. Irabor the present CDS, GEN. Yusuf performed almost as good in the NORTH-EAST Campaign as Theater Commander and went up to the MNJTF based in N'djamena, Chad. There is no gainsaying it this president is inept and ascetic. Let us help them think outside the box. There is no reason to retire these fine gentlemen officers trained at great cost to the state. The model proposed by President Obasanjo during his presidency can come to fruition now which is there's no reason we can't have more than one 4 star General or more 3 star Generals. The point should be about corps and command. You can set up a West African Command with a Full General or Lt. Gen or its equivalent from either Service posted there reporting to Defence HQ and not to the Service HQ just like you have the MNJTF. There's already a West African template though ad hoc mostly which can be activated on full standby with a full mechanized brigade and support services of the NAF and NN bringing it up to division size. Same command can be replicated for all the regions of Africa. In peace time they can gather intelligence, do recce, military diplomacy, courses, training and re-training among services and partner nations. That way you keep the Generals happy and busy. After all there's already medals for these in the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Get into action and apply these officers. Continuing this tradition of retiring fine officers to make way for the political choice of a sitting president is counter-productive. |

Covert1:I've talked about the issue of retiring MG compulsorily because a junior MG was promoted to the rank of LTG more than a year ago on this thread. I believe a 3 star General out rank a 2 star General so that has settle the issue of who the most senior officer will be. Any MG that is not comfortable can now retire voluntarily. I even used the US military as an example. In the US army, person wey una join the same year fit later dey serve as a GEN make you still dey LTGEN. But the word in bold Shey nah inside Nigeria all this West African command, Central Africa command etc go dey or dem go dey other African countries? All this will cost billions of dollars, abeg make dem spend am on infrastructure for here, we need power supply, good roads, good and cheap health care centers, we need to spend more money on primary and secondary education too not to talk of the tertiary level and a lot of things still dey wey be say we need to do. |
