As the 2023 general elections approaches, many regular faces who jostle for the Country’s prime position are already gearing up to try their luck one more time. One of those people is the current Governor of Sokoto state Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

But apart from the fact he was Speaker of the House of Representatives during Jonathan’s administration and Nyesom Wike’s support for him, there is nothing else incredible we know of him to warrant him being considered a contender for the presidency.

As Governor of Sokoto state since 2015, there’s nothing phenomenal or any landmark achievement we have seen out of Sokoto unlike what we see from states like Ebonyi, Lagos, Rivers, Anambra, even war-ravaged Bornu. Or is it that the Governor has poor media representation?

But judging by what we know right now, which is that there’s nothing exciting about Tambuwal to convince Nigerians to vote for him as president or to even win PDP’s ticket, I do not think characters like Tambuwal should be considered a worthy successor to Buhari.

You might want to say he is young and a lawyer but is he the only young person or lawyer from the North?

I feel it is time we start to elect proven performers rather than those who serve us rhetorics.

We need people who have done a lot with little resource to succeed the present govt and let’s see what he can achieve for the country when he has more resources at his disposal.

So what’s your thought guys? Do you consider Tambuwal a worthy presidential material?

You are correct. He is more visible when it comes to commissioning his fellow governors' projects as a guest than his own. He did that in Rivers, Oyo, and now Akwa Ibom. I can't remember the last time he was in the news for doing anything stellar in Sokoto.

Personally, since 2015, I’ve not seen a picture of road, school, hospital or social welfare program emanating from Sokoto.

Somebody can prove me wrong if he has.

Yet he wants to be president. Upon what pedigree?

Abi he’s just packing money to prosecute his presidential ambition?

Honestly, I'm beginning to think that his much speculated presidential ambition could be more of a Wike-orchestrated project than his after all. Because I personally think he lacks not just the pedigree but also the requisite charisma to sell his candidacy, compared to the likes of Atiku, Kwankwaso, or even Sule Lamido. Na Wike dey give Tambuwal political mileage.

Another Buhari in the making

They act nationalist, talk rationally, seem neutral and secular when seeking to be President.....but when they win, Quran and Sharia become their operational manual in all things regarding governance even when they know that Muslims are not the majority in Nigeria...

Yea. But why Wike seems fixated on him is what I don’t know.

Being rational and nationalistic shouldn’t be the only qualification for the presidency na.

One needs to demonstrate capacity and vision.
