Advice An Intending Freelancer by delugadou(op): 3:49pm On Jun 13, 2021
Right now I'm super broke but I have access to a udemy account with lots of courses. I also have enough mobile data and a HP mini laptop.
The thing is, I don't know which course to choose. I want to learn something profitable with my mini laptop and start Upwork hustle in the next 60 days.
Suggestions are welcome

You need to read books on it. But have you considered writing articles?

I'm of the impression that article writers are professionals in their fields. I'm not a professional in any field

Bros, that's a superstitious belief. Most chaps writing articles aren't really professionals ; they just only focus on a particular niche and make themselves stand out in the crowd. Try and visit AWAI and see how people with zero writing experience become 7-figure writers in less than 2years

Learn digital marketing and then move on to marketing automation using tools like HubSpot and pardot. I won't recommend coding because of the mini laptop you will be frustrated.

Data Entry, doesn't require much skill, just the ability to be focused and type accurately

You job is basically type up stuff, save in a PDF format and send to client

I am in same dilemma now.
1.I learnt html, css and was still at basic js when the laptop was withdrawn from me.
2.I completed the Google digital marketing course.Though it is basic but I have access to udemy courses.
3.I am left with an old hp mini laptop (has manageable issues)

Should I continue learning web dev with this mini laptop (brush up on html and css, continue js) ?? OR
Should I learn digital marketing??

Ps:
-I rely on my parents as an undergraduate.
-Coding is my goal for the future.

Brush up on the HTML and CSS and see if the laptop will run JavaScript. If it does run JavaScript you can pick it up but I don't know if it will run any JavaScript framework as those things start to consume a lot of memory when you code. If you know HTML, CSS and JavaScript you can look for remote roles as a HTML email developer. Add pardot or HubSpot to it. You can continue to react when you have gotten a new laptop.

Also I researched about pardot and hubspot and was seeing certifications here and there grin
Is it compulsory to be certified?

Can I freelance with it on the likes of upwork??

It's compulsory to get certified especially as a newbie. Pardot cost around 15000 USD a month to get so someoen spending so much on that stuff needs to get someone that really knows their shit and certification is one way to proof the knowledge even when you have no experience.

sir, you are someone I really respect when it comes to programming. I need your input on this, please which should I learn, web development or desktop application development? Please kindly state reasons if you don't mind. And secondly, is web development the same as web application development?

Web development. Desktop applications aren't profitable because of how easy they are to pirate. A lot of companies are moving to the cloud now. Even adobe has cloud versions of its popular software. You can use the same languages and tools for web development to do desktop development. If you know javascript, you can use electron to do desktop applications. I might be wrong though.

Thank you, you are not wrong about electron. I read about it somewhere. The second question please, are web apps the same as website? This usually confuses me.
