Notice the woman with her hand on her heart. Even in her pain she's still making the national pledge.

That's true patriotism to country.

That's the DefMin. On our behalf she orders servicemen/women to put themselves in harm's way. It's only proper she comes face-to-face with the consequences of those orders and the pain of the families.
That way, one hopes those orders will not be given recklessly and without due deliberation.

We saw it in Odi and Zaki Biam. In the North East, if Boko Haram attack the Nigerian army in any particular location, the Nigerian army will come back to level the community, killing anybody and burning their properties.

After the attack in Giwa barracks by Boko Haram, Nigerian army massacred all the prisoners that couldn't escape.

It happened in Benue again few weeks ago, it happened in a community in the south east few days ago.

I'm not here to sugar coat anything, I will keep on saying things as dey are. If you no happy, is your problem not mine.

There is almost no difference between the Nigerian army and Boko Haram operation. There are records to back it up.

You are wrong. There's a difference. That difference is that the NA doesn't do suicide bombing.

What I intend to ask is, does ISWAP see bandits as friends worth making alliances with, or as enemies of the caliphate it's establishing that must be exterminated? The answer to this will be significant.

Really great observation!!
There are no known links between ISWAP and "bandits" of the northwest. It was JAS the bandits contacted after the abduction of the kankara boys. JAS has claimed having fighters in locations where bandits dominate. And the mode of operation and activities of "bandits" is in opposition to the ISWAP's doctrines so it will be difficult to see cooperation between the two.
This is one effect of the death of shekau that most didn't notice. The bandits will most likely be weakened.

First ISWAP, Bandits or JAS are all terrorists. I don’t really know much about bandits ideology as I have not really worked in states affected by Banditry.

ISWAP has its own ideology same way both Bandits and JAS May have theirs. Definitely ISWAP might reach out to bandits if they’ll agree on a common ideology which I believe to create an Islamic state under its leadership.

Although I doubt if Bandits have any ideology of ruling a caliphate in Nigeria.

I don't know. Short term cooperation is likely and what I fear. Both sides are like oil and water and can mix together, but only temporarily.

As for bandits being weakened by Shekau's death, I'm not sure of that. Bandits make a lot of money from kidnappings and looting and get a lot of publicity. All these means that youths in the areas they operate are much more likely to see banditry as a viable way of getting rich and influential. With money they should be able to get their choice of weaponry too.
It's possible ISWAP will lose less committed and money-loving operatives to bandits. This if it happens will upgrade their capabilities.

damboa, marte, on fire this afternoon by the airforce. isawp are loosing many men to airstrike since last two week. our airforce doing a great job. they was a massive operation this afternoon in some location in lake chad by the nigeria army. our airfoce need more equipment all thank to DHQ

A civilian, Emmanuel Odaudu, has regained his freedom after languishing in the Nigerian Army Special Investigation Bureau underground cell in Abuja for over eight months because of an old Facebook video.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Emmanuel was released on Friday, June 11, 2021, following a series of reports by this medium drawing attention to his plight and the involvement of human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN.

Falana had described Emmanuel’s continued detention by the military as illegal and unconstitutional, adding “Our law firm is taking up this matter and we are going to demonstrate through this case that the Nigerian Army has no power under the law to arrest a civilian without transferring him/her to the police in line with the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.”

Emmanuel’s mother, Helen, had lamented that her son’s ordeal started when he was in the Army, explaining that he was detained over an old video posted on Facebook, where he was seen rapping while in uniform.

She also said that efforts to secure his release after he was arrested in their hometown of Otukpo, Benue State, proved abortive.

Helen, who spoke to PUNCH Metro on Tuesday, said though the case against her son was still ongoing, he had been released from detention.

The joyous mother stated, “My son has been released, but when I went to see the lawyer representing us from Falana and Falana Chambers, he said the case is still on and that the Army is not withdrawing it.

“He was released on Friday, June 11, 2021. I was very happy when I saw him; it was like a dream come true. I appreciate God, my special thanks goes to PUNCH Newspapers, the Falana and Falana Chambers and every other person, who stood by me during my trying period.”

RE: NEW COAS SHOCKS REPS, SAYS I JOINED THE MILITARY 36 YEARS AGO

Our attention has been drawn to a publication by an online news medium National Mail Online where it was reported that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Faruk Yahaya has served the military for 36 years instead of the 35 years statutorily allowed in the Federal Civil Service Rules.

It is worthy of mention that the COAS while appearing for confirmation did mentioned to the Distinguished Senators that "what I brought along in this highly tasking office is about 36 years of military experience, having joined the Army on 27 September 1985 as a member of 37 Regular Course (Degree)". He went further to state "....Since that time when I passed out September 22nd, 1990..." For the records, the COAS had accurately captured his military experience to include the 5 years he spent in training as Officer Cadet in the Nigerian Defence Academy. The record of service of an officer however counts from the day he is commissioned. This is clearly stated in the Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service (Officers) 2017 Revised. In the case of the 22nd COAS as he stated clearly, he was commissioned on 22nd September 1990 which is reference point for his service years. This therefore means the message being circulated is completely inaccurate and out of context.

The general public is therefore advised to disregard this unfounded article as it was born either out of simple lack of knowledge of the military service or out of mischief which can best be explained by the author.

our airforce are bombing terrorist location in northwest. the airforce need more equipment. all thank to DHQ. the police are really working in the northwest. the IGP, STS, Combat mopol, police Special force are all in the northwest. they are really attacking bandit location. intel with say from last week to now police unit have attack over 20 bandit hideout with reinforcement from the military more tactical police are being deployed intel review

Destroying bandits hideouts alone will be meaningless if there are no plans to ensure that they don't regain strength to be able to threaten local communities again. We will just be running in circles. Prevent small arms and ammunitions from entering the country for a few months and many of these criminals will be forced to resort to honest means of livelihood. The military and police have been attacking bandits hideouts for years, the damages the bandits wreck keep increasing.

Nigeria doesn't have the capacity to control illicit weapons from coming in. they could try, but it will barely make a dent. besides there are already tons of illegal weapons in the hands of criminals as it is.
It's not an easy task to do. requires logistics, lots of money and personnel that are actually trustworthy

me and you know ,will do not have knowledge of military and police strategy but securing area which terrorist and bandit almost operate is good. me and you know stopping movement of fire arm and ammunition is very hard but if the police and custom can create a special unit for monitoring movement of fire arm it will make a long way in destroying this terrorist. the problem of the country is our border federal government should do something about it. from intel i have done from 2015 to now iswap still exist because of our border. federal government should create a special quad like niasam for the main time to monitor the border. this will reduce the logistic and firearm of terriost
