Web development. Desktop applications aren't profitable because of how easy they are to pirate. A lot of companies are moving to the cloud now. Even adobe has cloud versions of its popular software. You can use the same languages and tools for web development to do desktop development. If you know javascript, you can use electron to do desktop applications. I might be wrong though.

Hello. Good evening.
I'm currently learning JS and sometimes I wonder if these skills are still relevant to web design/web dev. because there are so many automated websites or app one could use to get these things done.?

Pls can you suggest any site to get full time job ?

tensazangetsu20:

Yeah but you can also get full time remote jobs online that pay very well.

I am in same dilemma now.
1.I learnt html, css and was still at basic js when the laptop was withdrawn from me.
2.I completed the Google digital marketing course.Though it is basic but I have access to udemy courses.
3.I am left with an old hp mini laptop (has manageable issues)

Should I continue learning web dev with this mini laptop (brush up on html and css, continue js) ?? OR
Should I learn digital marketing??

Ps:
-I rely on my parents as an undergraduate.
-Coding is my goal for the future.

Stay on course with programming by hook or by crook.

You can't go wrong with coding. It pays serious cash.

Have a friend who started a dev career after our first degree while I jettisoned back to med school. Dudes in Germany now banging fresh white pussy while I'm here struggling with ASUU strike.

Copy writing. Digital marketing. Data entry and all that stuff might be easier to get into but they don't have the solid career path nor the financial reward that comes with coding.

Struggle to get a laptop that can do the basics right and drown yourself with all the coding tutorials you can find. Stick to this and you'll thank me in 2 years Max.
That's if you're intelligent and smart of course. Coding needs a smart and analytic mind.

True the copywriting videos on YouTube are usually too theoretical.

Right now I'm super broke but I have access to a udemy account with lots of courses. I also have enough mobile data and a HP mini laptop.
The thing is, I don't know which course to choose. I want to learn something profitable with my mini laptop and start Upwork hustle in the next 60 days.
Suggestions are welcome

Start by knowing the difference between advice and advise, then come back and I'll guide you.

You can freelance on a lot of platforms like Fiverr, freelancer.com, people per hour e.t.c but I just prefer Upwork because its better organized and managed.

Boss, the upwirk account I open 3 months ago, still no job for me to do till date. What can I do?

I've bought courses, read articles, watched videos on copywriting, it still seem like rocket science. When I see people do it, like the tutors from the udemy course I bought, it looks easy but the moment I try to practice on a blank sheet, BOOM, I go blank. I think copywriters have some sort of ingenious creativity that help them come up with meaningful and endearing words out of thin air to spark readers interest

You have to be creative, yes. But it's not really rocket science. The devil is in the details, as they say. It is practice, practice and practice. And, you have to cultivate the habit of reading books and studying copy samples that pulled in massive sales before. Also you probably do not have a direct mentor to guide you through. If you go at it alone, you won't get anywhere fast.

By the way, what Copywriting courses did you get? Is it free or paid?

YouTube videos? They won't help you much except tell you what it is, not how it is actually done. That's because every copywriter has a different point of view and manner of approach to writing their copy.

All you'll get in YouTube are the basic, beginner level stuff. You're better off paying for courses by great copywriters that can take you in-depth into the skill. There are many of those depending on what you're looking for

Learn high paying skills. Skills like
- Copywriting
- Content writing
- Data science and analytics
- Web development and design
- UX writing
- Virtual assistant
- Email marketing
- Social Media management
- Coding
- Graphic design

Become a badass in one or two of these skills, then start offering them as services to clients on Upwork. There's mad money in these skills.

For example, I do content writing in the tech and games niche and I've made a pretty good amount since I started.

Also, some of these skills especially writing do not need a laptop. By just using your smartphones, you can actually earn hundreds of dollars every month.

Good advice. I'm also doing content writing. Submitted many proposals on upwork, none have contacted me. I know my experience might be bogging me down, as its not impressive just yet

What do you advice bro?

Pls can one learn any of these online?, if yes which site can I get it pls

First of all, know which one you want to take out time to learn.

For free courses, you may be able to see some on Udemy, Coursera and Youtube. A quick google search will give you some answers.

For a paid course, you can chat me up so that I can refer you to the one I took.

Hello sir...I studied mathematics
in school without the knowledge of how to code, please I'm interested in learning data science and analytics..how do I go about it. Thanks

I'm also a mathematics graduate. I did a 6 months data science internship last year so I can tell you that the data science/analytics field is very wide. To be able to offer the skills online, you need to be very good in it and that would take you a significant amount of time.

If you are serious, then chat me up on WhatsApp so that I will direct you on how to get free Datacamp subscription for two months so that you can get started with learning. Just my little way of helping smiley

Look for a course you know you can learn and perfect within 60 days. That's the summary of my advice to you.

I could tell you to learn coding or data science or one exotic course, and won't be anywhere near competent in 60 days.

So check yourself and know the skill you already have. Look for a course to develop that skill to competency level, then begin applying for jobs on Upwork.

Yesterday I came across a Nigerian boy on Reddit. He had made $1000 from Upwork as a Tech writer, and writing about chess.

I was surprised because I didn't even know writing about Chess was a thing.

So, just search yourself and look for a skill you can develop. On the long run, you could start learning those other "exotic" skills.
