FunnyDude:

I was once like you. My advice is to focus on one platform. Lower your price or gig.

In your proposal, state that you'll deliver your client job in 24 hours.

Just do everything that will make you stand out over others.
i cant go lower than $5, check my fiverr profile fiverr.com/digitalx3

Of course. Make sure your face is clear in the picture. It's best if you dressed professionally in that photo.

I'm glad the thread helped you. Receiving payment is not a thing to be bothered about.

Once the client pays you, you can actually withdraw your money straight to your bank account using direct transfer. You just need to input your account details beforehand so that it can be confirmed before the money is sent.

If you did work outside the platform and you want to receive money, then you can use a direct contract. Read this thread for more:

Thanks a lot, bro. Seems like you are another guru on Upwork cool..lol

Regarding my niche, I just write on tech and chess. I prefer specialising in those fields, rather than just writing any random contents.

I really love this sir

Keep up the good work

Please can I get some of your samples?

I want to attach it to my proposal

Thanks.

Glad you enjoyed it.

But I can't just give you my "samples" to attach to your portfolio. You have to make yours yourself.

Every freelancer has a unique portfolio containing what and what they are experienced in. It's not wise to use someone portfolio as your own because you are not experienced in that field and may just end up "burnt" on your first gig.

Both are not compulsory but they are quite necessary. It's easier for clients to trust you when they see that you are certified in a particular skill and have good work experience.

I just joined upwork. I haven't gotten any gig. I am guilty of usual copy and pasting the previous proposals I had sent out. I will do better now. Thanks a lot for your insights. One question though. Does coming from Nigeria limit you from getting jobs? Like should I ask someone abroad to open the account for me so I can use his address and all?

It'll be foolish to ask someone abroad to help you open an account. You don't need to lie about it, there are Nigerians there on Upwork making six figures, it's not about your location. It's just about "Can you do the work?"

I already had articles I wrote just for myself so when I started freelancing, it was not hard to reference these articles to clients.
