It's a 325xi meaning its 3 series, 2.5L6, its All Wheel Drive, its injection engine type.

E46, one of the most reliable bmw and mechanic friendly. With enthusiasm, you can fix it yourself.

Thank you all for the feedback so far. Forgot to add, it's a 4 plug vehicle
Re: BMW 325xi Review Needed by Johnholmes: 12:23pm On Jun 20, 2021
A 325 xi is a 6 cyl all wheel drive
My advice is u buy a regular 325 I ( ie rear wheel drive)
A 4 cyl on a BMW e46 is a disaster as d car is quite heavy.
Avoid d 4 cyl like a plague( 318i and 316i) if not u'll have issues with power.
Contrary to popular opinion, a 6 cyl does not necessarily mean it's a fuel guzzler.
My verdict is u buy a 325 I ( 6 cyl ,rear wheel drive).

You are wrong at the words in bold. Do you know better that the Engineers who designed and built it with the 4 cylinders?

The 325 means that the engine on the car is that of a 2.5L, with 6 cylinders.

If the one you intend to buy is carrying a 4 cylinders engine, it with either be a 316 or 318

The 3 series is a great and reliable car, you will enjoy it (whatever model you eventually buy).

Bros u are wrong also ..... I'm talking based on hands on experience ,I've driven both cars.
Buying a 4 cyl e46 is a disaster cos d car is too heavy and u'll just be overworking d engine.
If he wants a 4 cyl he should get Japanese cars cos they are lighter.
Recent 4 cyl are efficient even on German cars cause they are turbo but as far as e46 is concerned a 6 cyl is d right choice especially the 325i

330 I is d better option more mechanics can work on a petrol engine as opposed to a diesel. But if u're looking for a daily driver, then the 2007 3 series e90 is a wrong choice .
I say this because a lot of parts fail easily and are quite expensive .
If ur pocket is deep u can go for it

Thanks once again at everyone that contributed. Another question, can this 325i be used as an everyday vehicle?

A 325i e46 will serve you diligently as a daily driver. Though mechanic friendly and quite economical to maintain, it’s still advisable you make google your friend and get familiar with the vehicle. You’d be surprised to realize how much you can save with diy.

An e90 on the other hand shouldn’t be in same sentence with “daily driving” lol. Talking from experience (330i 2009) - it’s water pump fails intermittently and buying a new one doesn’t guarantee it’ll last (it’s electrical and worse, plastic). Let alone tokunbo… honestly don’t do the used ones as it will ALWAYS end in tears.

My preferred choice of bmw daily drivers are the e46, e60 and x5 all M-engines. If you aren’t rich rich, anything above those (N-engines and above)… deep pockets will keep them a bit longer in your garage. Eventually, you’ll be frustrated to terminate the marriage las las.

Cheers.

I agree with u bro ,the last reliable tokunbo BMW for Nigerian daily drive are the ones u listed ( any model 1999- 2005). Pls stay away from later models ( ie 2007 above) only if ur pocket is very very deep

what part of my comment is wrong? I owned the E46 Touring with 6 cylinders for 5 years, the E46 in my garage at present has 4 cylinders, it's been almost 4 years and counting since I got her. The Touring was my daily driver while it lasted, same is for my current E46.

Again, I ask, are you more knowledgeable than the German Engineers who built the E46 with 4 cylinders and that with 6 cylinders?

How is your driving pattern like to erroneously conclude that the E46 with 4 cylinders will not perform optimally because it is heavier for the 4 cylinders to handle?

I don't mean that a 316 or 318i won't perform well.all I'm saying is in the case of e46 a 6 cyl is d better machine especially d 325 if u're particular about gas mileage and decent performance.

I am not saying d 316 and 318i are not good cars . But if u're looking for better gas mileage, a 4 cyl is not significantly better than a 6 cyl (especially the 325i )because d e46 is a heavy car

I have owned the e46 325xi and 325i. Here are my thoughts:

1. Its pretty fast! Faster off the mark when compared to the 325i.

2. Good handling and fun to drive compared to the japs.

3. The interior trims degrade over time most notably the plastic trims and headliners (thanks to BMW quality).

4. If the AC goes bad, be prepared for an expensive fix.

5. The suspension parts of the 325xi (all wheel drive) is more expensive and scarse.

6. Prepare to replace window regulators.

My thoughts: buy only when you have a deep pocket. Also ensure the engine is in good condition before purchase i.e. absence of rattle from the engine, no check engine light, no misfire etc
