Hello webmasters,

I decided to take the challenge of learning web languages used in web development after shying away for a long time. I've decided to start with HTML and CSS to know about front-end and the basics.

However, here is my dilemma: Which do you think I should learn and master for server-side web development: Java or Python.

Please, give your reasons...and try to be objective based on experience too. Thanks.

It depend on what you wanna do, it not only Java or Python that can be use on the server side there is ASP.NET, Node.Js, Go, Elixir.

So it all comes down to what you wanna do.

Are you planning to develop for enterprise ?, do you wanna develop data driven application or AI driven app ?

For Enterprise (software that are built primarily for companies and not individual) nothing can touch Java while python is good in areas like automation, machine learning, data analysis, et all.

All you've got to do is to study their Framework (Spring boot, Django, Flask, etc.)

Thanks. I'm thinking along this line since the large market share is taken by Php already. Will choose probably Java as the second.

Java is a very difficult language to master especially java enterprise. I will only advice you learn java if you intend to build android apps.

But if you learn PHP and then the Wprdpress API you can start making money in a very short while
