They called me early this morning and I explained to them what challenge I am facing and that I'll pay them before Friday. He laughed and said he will destroy me and then hanged up the call. Few minutes later, they started sending messages to my contacts. What should I do? They have damaged my image and they continue to send messages to my contacts doesn't change anything any more.

Sokoloan just sent derogatory messages to my contacts just because the loan I collected is overdue for 2 days and I told them I will pay before the week runs out. Now that they have tarnished my image, should they still expect I pay them? The derogatory messages they sent is enough to pay them and I will not be paying them any cash again. Na loan I collect no be thief I thief.

FYI. I use them very well too and have defaulted several times which made some of them ban me , but I don't go opening threads saying I'm not going to pay them again.

I begged them when they called earlier that I'll pay max Friday and that if I don't pay, they should take actions but the guy just laughed and said he will disgrace me & ended the call. He even told me to go and borrow money to pay them

OP, that their loan, arrange it keep one side. Then get a good lawyer.

Which is what you should have done...jokes aside.

(Had same issue with Branch last year, and had to do emergency borrowing to pay them their loan partially because of salary delays due to covid issues last year. They did not threaten me, but they did suggest nicely that I borrow...to pay them back. Of course I paid them in full two days after the partial payment.)

The main reason why many of those loan companies are so relentless is that Nigerians don't pay them back On this site, I have seen people share strategies to cheat these loan companies well well.

Also, I heard (yet to find out if true) that the workers at these loan companies get salary deductions if loans are not paid on time.

All the loans government and companies owe, they are on repayment schedules which have already been agreed upon in the T and C of the loans taken (and we know what happens when defaults happen. For companies, the government takes them over via AMCON and pays the loan from their coffers by force. For governments , it means IMF would not let them access fresh credit...yes it happens)

Government loans are paid for in the bit of the budget that goes for loan servicing.

Same as the loans you take from Sokoloan. There are t and c . Don't abide by them , they come after you.

(And I don't work for Sokoloan, and I am on terms of mortal defiance with them after they denied me a loan that i was clearly going to pay back even 2 days before the time self. Funny people).

The T and F operated by this organization is not sanctioned by the CBN or Financial regulators.
The interest they charge and the very short repayment period are not standard the reasoning they resort to unprofessional methods to get back their money instead of reporting to CBN or Credit Bureau.
