My great grandmother was Usen and she spoke Yoruba and Bini up till she died. they speak both equally there, it is not in contention at all. I have many as friends even in Benin city. They are Bilingual, and their Bini language is as crystal clear as the sun. The difference between olukumi and Usen is that olukumi is isolated but Usen is close and shares proximity with yorubaland

Ife is too small for everybody within Osun state let alone so many yorubas and some groups in Edo state. quit the lies, it is even on the contrary that many Edos have been assimilated in many yoruba areas like Owo and other Yoruba areas in Ondo state. Infact they are called Edo'nekhue. we understand
I have had dese conversation with bini nationalists million times I told dem dey wont like what is coming in their hate campaign against yoruba

Now Esan are saying if dey are denied governorship they will agitate for Esan state which I support

I nor get anything to prove to you if I was around Benin I would have called you to come interview my father, that is the ultimate reality. stating a lie would not put anything in my pocket, that is the ultimate reality, they are Edos and there is nothing you can do about it. you can't champion an online campaign from ogbomosho. you can't decide these people's destiny from Offa.

Who is saying Itsekiris are Yorubas with heavy Bini influence? You don't know history.

The Itsekiris were birthed from Bini. The Binis even influenced the Yorubas.

Go and read.

I'm an Igbo man BTW. Facts should be told.

It seems you don't know what you are saying. It is other way around. Yoruba influence Benin and the Yoruba migrant left by Oranmiyan went to established Itsekiri and that is reason it was allowed for the grandson of Oramiyan who is also son of first Oba of Benin (Ginuwa) to become king because of is Yoruba lineage.

What this video yourself. This is record from Kingmaker council of Itsekiri and they acknowledged that they are from Yorubaland.

You can't be an Itsekiri person, if you are, then you are one of those whose parents just migrated to Itsekiri land. The Itsekiri royalty including all the chiefs know that the royal family is of Benin ancestry. Just incase you missed it the first time, below are Itsekiri high chiefs telling their history on channels TV.

The Itsekiri princes should settle their differences in peace or their royal father in Benin should intervene and help them find peace.

First Class kings don't collect Staff of office from Government. The Oba of Bini, The Oba of Lagos, Alaafin of Oyo, Ooni of Ife, Obi of Onitsha, Olu of Warri, Sultan of Sokoto, etc.

THE OBA OF LAGOS CAN , AND NEVER WILL BE A FIRST CLASS KING, NEITHER IS HE A SECOND CLASS KING NOR A THIRD CLASS, BECAUSE HIS KINGSHIP HAS NO ROOT TO ILE-IFE. THEY'RE POLITICAL OFFSHORT OF SLAVE MASTERS TO SENIOR PREFECT.

IN THE KINGSHIP CLASS, ALL KINGS IN LAGOS ARE CEREMONIAL HEADS, AS LAGOS IS A COMMERCIAL CENTER AND HAS NO SACRED SOIL.

Even the title of the King "Olu" is Yoruba...

Do the maths... Their names, Yorubaish, many of their words are Yorubaish..

Itshekiri tribe has Yoruba roots.. Simple!

And Benin roots! QED!

What's causing all these crises is because the mother of the one they choosed to be king is yoruba I don't know why the discrimination and confusion when the itsekiris claims yoruba ancestry?

They don't claim Yoruba ancestry

Don't forget that the reason they are fighting the newly selected Olu is because his mother is Yoruba. If these people or the royalty see themselves as Yoruba why will they be against a prince whose mother is Yoruba.

The reason they are fighting the selected prince whose mother is Yoruba is because the Itsekiri royal family is not Yoruba but Benin.

I bet you the oba of benin is not yoruba, the lie of Oromiyan coming to benin was told after amalgamation for political unification and political benefit it is not rooted in history

Only on few occasions benin came across oyo in history when benin defeated oyo soldiers during the yoruba war in other to protect ekiti territory under benin

Benin and ife never had any encounter until after 1914 when the myth was necessarily to be formed for political unification between edo amd Yorubas

That history you're saying is historical not rooted but forged

Itsekiri nickname benin ile-binu when they were warning the Portuguese at their shores not to trespass into edo land
Portuguese picked the world benin from ile binu to describe the edo people they were warned about

And not the imaginary Oromiyan... Coming to do shit

Benin influenced yoruba instead
The oba benin is rooted fully edo blood undiluted...

At worse, you stick your tale to the Benin royalty. The earlier you know that the average Edo man is not one with and has no business with Yoruba linguistically and all the better. Igala will be related to Yoruba 100 times before Bini will ever be,go and claim Igala, leave Benin alone! We are not the same people, this harsh and sad reality should stick already. You coming to the conclusion that Benin is of Yoruba origin because "their" ruler bears the Oba of Benin is foolish of you I must say. Benin is as distinct to Yoruba as Igbo is to her. Know this and know peace

Not really!

The general Bini people are a different ethno-linguistic group of people.

However, it is the kingship of Benin that is an off-shoot from Ile-Ife.

Cheers!

If Esan want to go, no Edo person will find that to be a problem. People have the right to go their separate ways. After all Bendel divided and no biggie. Igboid and Yoruboid people have many states. shocked

Why anybody will be swallowing panadol for another man's headache is beyond me.

I wonder o. The land size of Edo/Delta is slightly larger than the landmass of ALL the 5 states of Eastern Nigeria. For equity, we actually need Urhobo/Okpe/Isoko joint State. Then Anioma State. Some adjustments along Edo Central and Edo North for another state.

-Edo State for Benin people
-Esan-Afemai State
-Delta/Urhobo/Isoko State
-Iwerre-Burutu-Forcados State
-Anioma State.

The first three will be pure Edoid states.

Since 9ja has chosen craziness over sanity and states rely on Federal Allocation, no reason why these states cannot be feasible. After all Yobe, Kebbi and others exist. Nobody cares about viability. These 5 states are far more viable than many currently parading as states.

The simple fact that the selected Olu is being challenged because his mother is Yoruba have exposed Yoruba lies about the the Itsekiri monarchy being Yoruba.

People that haven't been able to claim the Itsekiri monarchy as Yoruba despite the similarities in language are claiming the Benin monarchy as Yoruba.
