The job I do abroad. Is far better than any job I ever did in Nigeria.

To make matters worse the pay and work load is better.

The job I do abroad is almost equivalent to me doing nothing and getting paid.

Life is easy in the North.
No unnecessary showing off, nobody trying to pepper neighbors and stuff.
People are nice to each other, they live like humans, not the dog eat dog scenario we have in the south
Why is it that northerners don't move abroad?

And this....
Having lived in both the North and South of the country, you sir, are very correct. The South maybe educationally and economically ahead of the North but, gosh, I've never seen a set of people make life difficult for each other like southerners. Life is just way easier in the North than in the South, from experience.
The igbos in the North reluctant to move back home aren't as dumb as most people will have you believe.

What I mean abroad cannot do without Naija because they are working for both the system in abroad and their families in Naija. So at the end of the day, when you retire you might not have anything to show for it in abroad. The best way is to have a business in abroad. You pay low tax and get a lot of support

Truth is there's absolutely nothing any with papers in good wester countries can't achieve both there and in naija. My uncle left for Canada 7 years ago and he is doing very very very well because he has got a good job in the IT industry. He has a house here and over there. He builds and sells houses here and his wife got a very good business there.

I go soon leave Una here Waka. Una poverty really gum body.

Something is fundamentally wrong in this story.
If neighborhood is infested with gangs, move
If public school is infested with gangs (I have never heard this) change school.
I find it hard to believe that between the man and wife they could not find call center jobs or sales associate jobs that would have taken care of rent and bills. The 600 paid to their child would have sorted out feeding

Lets assume a very terrible situation. Oga is working in poorly-paying stingy call center or as a sales associate earning $2000 after tax
Madam is working in the bakery part-time at Loblaws earning $16 per hour. Lets say she works for 4 hours so she can stay with the children. in a month she will earn $1700 after tax. Combined income in $3700. Plus monthly payment to child $4300

Rent for 2 bedroom $1600
Phone bills for two $70
internet $50
Food $600
Electricity $100
Landlord pays water, garbage and gas bills
Monthly bus pass for two $250
New clothes $100
Netflix $14.99

SAVINGS MONTHLY $1515.01

This is in the worst situation. The only thing I can think of that could have happened here is the man rented a luxury apartment. I know because I also made this mistake - I rented in Rockcliffe village when I first arrived undecided cry

The guy is lying. Fake story

before he traveled to Canada he should have made enquiries to know the cost of living in Canada.
That's exactly what I did and when I realized the cost of living there is high I dropped the plans

cost of living in Canada is very high and it is also one of the most asocial places on earth just like the UK (they share the same queen). Only go to Canada if the money you will make is substantial.... its a socially crippled country - no community bonding/ you dare not try to talk to or get close to a neighbour, no one has time for anyone else, no one talks to anyone else beyond the superficial; just work work and more work....

The SWEET THING is that what that ?small $1500 monthly pay can get you in somewhere like the US, your Naija monthly Salary of #400, 000 can't still get dem, excluding thieves & govt approved thieves.
We complain a lot.
Especially coming from the POOREST COUNTRY in the world. That's my annoyance.
Nigerians just want to arrive d developed world & start heading Organizations with degrees from d most poorly resourced schools in d world.
That's GREED in Action.
I left as a top professional but I'm not regretting it at all.
You can't be a CROCODILE in a 3rd world nation and expect to retain such immediately in a developed world.
It takes sometime.
The Only constant thing is for you to keep moving. Which these countries permit.

What the heck!
can 1500 dollars pay your 1 year rent in US?

YOU MUST HAVE BEEN LIVING IN THE GHETTOIN NIGERIA SO ANYWHERE ABROAD IS OK FOR YOU.

THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE AND KIDS IN NIGERIA TODAY THAT DO NOT KNOW ABOUT OR EVEN ENCOUNTER ALL YOU HAVE SAID IN THEIR DAILY LIVES.

ABROAD IS NOT HEAVEN...BUT IF YOU ARE DISADVANTAGED IN NIGERIA, IT IS A LOT BETTER.

THERE IS ACCESS TO GOOD HOSPITALS, SCHOOLS ETC IN NIGERIA AS WELL, NA MONEY KILL AM.

ABROAD IS BEST WHEN YOU ARE SINGLE AND BELOW 30YRS SO YOU CAN SUFFER BEFORE YOU CAN ENJOY LATER.

ANOTHER THING IN THE ABROAD IS RACISM...EXPECT TO GROW A THICK SKIN WHEN YOUR KIDS ARE DISCRIMINATED AT...IT WOULD SURELY HAPPEN. AND ALSO, BRACE YOURSELF TO LET DEM KIDS UNDERSTAND WHY YOU TOOK THEM AWAY FROM THE COMFORT OF NIGERIA, TO THIS NEW HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT.

MALIGNANTGuest:

Everything in Naija is just scattered.
No organization.
In Fact, repatriating me and giving me the same JUICY JOB which I had before leaving would even kill me more.
Just look at the insecurity alone.
How can INEC CHAIRMEN & Collation Officers have better CVs than those vying for elective positions?

Imagine Kids heading to schools and watching suspects being lynched with tyres and petrol.
Is that country Normal?

The only REGRET I have is, I didn't leave EARLY.

See, I didn't want to talk initially but I felt some people here are misleading others. The best decision you can ever make in your life is to leave Nigeria. I left in February and I have not had a day of regret. I borrowed money to leave and sold properties and I tell you that I'm almost done repaying.
I don't know what you guys mean by good jobs in Nigeria with the kind of inflation of prices of commodities at the moment. Some talked about bills, but you didn't mention that you will have uninterrupted power and water supply, stable internet connection etc and all of these are pay as you go.
If God gives you the privilege of leaving Naija, please don't hesitate.

Let me tell you a story.

My brother left school and job prospects in Nigeria and went abroad. He had a student visa, some dollars and was expecting a relation to pick him up at the airport. That was about it. When he got to the airport in Houston, no one was there waiting to pick him up. In fact, the relation called him and told him to start heading back, that he has no interest in having him around. He had nowhere to sleep. Hustle started. He had to go to the branch of our Nigerian church in Houston to beg to sleep. They pitied him and accommodated him, and allowed him to leave on the chairs of the church for a week until he got a restaurant job. He contemplated coming back home and in fact bought a ticket, took a taxi to the airport, but changed his mind at the last minute. Resolving to stay back, he intensified his "hustle", working in restaurants where they treated him like shit and started going back to school.

Five years later, he is now employed in two places, making north of $120k as a software developer. Planning to start his own company and offer jobs to his developer friends he left back in Lagos, many of whom are still struggling to find a good job. In fact, some of them are now working for him (online). He got his green card legally, and planning to marry soon.

What am I saying? Most Nigerians give up easily when they go abroad. Abroad is not a bed of roses. You have to work, have to show a strong desire to succeed. Nothing is going to be handed to you on a platter. For many Nigerians who have had it easy before travelling out, this is often difficult to understand. They find that they can't cheat the system. No lecturer will collect money from you to bump your score. You suddenly can't enter a bus without paying by lying to the conductor that you lost your money. Those tricks with which you survived in Nigeria no longer work. You have to learn new tricks. This is the part where many people fail and is probably the only lesson here. Whether you are in Nigeria or abroad, you have to show a desire to succeed given your environment. IF this desire is not there, failure awaits!
the best thing your brother did was to go into ICT or probably medical field. If he didn't ha na rat race e go dey so.

Most people do not realise what they are enjoying in Nigeria.

Lot of free stuff in Nigeria

What is the minimum wage in Nigeria and in the USA?

Abeg, people should stop this rubbish of comparing Nigeria with these countries.

Nigeria no be country o. Wait until u have an emergency health issue in Nigeria, u will die except there is special grace.
Most of ur health care in Nigeria are dumbing ground. Most hospitals don't even have enough beds for people. Like u will wait for ur turn to use beds grin

People think that life starts and ends with their income. We are talking about facilities which are pry duty of govt. They are none functional in Nigeria abeg.

As we dey talk, my area have not seen electricity for five days now angry

Nigeria is chaotic. Na una wey dey disturb una selves with building of houses, buying plenty cars and doing all that shit when u reach abroad that make it look like they aren't doing well.

Anyone who is comfortable with living quite comfortable, will never regret leaving Nigeria. Na when u dey find money, plenty money to shock people in Nigeria and buy plenty cars, that is when u begin mount pressure on ur self.

1st story

I met a waiter at rhapsody in ikeja shopping mall, who regretted leaving Nigeria for dubai, i asked him why? He said he left his stable job to Dubai, got to dubai and was earning 70k, was also living in a shared accommodation with 4 people, after working for 5 months, he resigned and left Dubai for Nigeria.

2nd story

My cousin left his well paid job for Canada, sold his properties in naija and moved to Canada with his family, first 8 month of his life was hell upon earth, from bills to bills, from one low wage job to another, the neighborhood he was living with his family was infested with gangs, the public school was also infected with gangs, his children got bullied because of their accents, his wife, even though supportive couldn't get a good job, bros was tired of everything.

So he decided to solve his problem by moving back, after the scrap they could save in Canada, my guy and his family moved back to Nigeria, they had to start afresh, thank God, he had a supportive family and friends, they use their connections to help him find another good job but what is lost is lost till today he still regrets selling his properties for Canada.

He sold his property and moved there with his family?

He was a mumu for taking such risk, people with sense with go there first then invite their family when everything is settled and going well for them.

Nigeria Govt had make our people believe that paying of bills is a bad things, a good system needs to encourage bills paying and use the revenue to better the life of their citizen aside FM not seeing my loved ones regularly, I have no other regret. I took the risk of coming back to established in Nigeria after so many years in 2008, I saw hell, from one problem to the other, from poor power supply affecting a big cybercafe I owned with my brother, to bad roads and the police affecting out logistic business, to add our regular Lagos Plasma to the list, and area boys when ever the trucks break down, bad drivers nko, against to export business, is the same story bad government policy, to customer greed every time, to me I don't know about those that have lucrative work and career, but I know security, health facilities and bad education system too will still show face, Nigeria, I hail thee. aff

Good health care, Jobs, good education, great transportation and Security.
Please stop converting those money to Naira because you aren’t spending Naira over there.
Can I enjoy basic things in Nigeria with 50K Naira salary vs $3K basic salary in the USA vs €2K salary in Germany?

All the people I'm affiliated with that moved abroad are all doing great, and 100 percent of them are from the south. I think southerners are more go getters than the MB or north especially those from the west and Eastern part of the country.

A friend of mine that left the country 3 years ago is now building a duplex in warri. His brother is married to an Irish and a citizen so he helped him secure a job. His salary right now due to exchange rate is almost 1.5 million a month.

1.5 million a month is still poor abroad... except for country with low standard of living... and I doubt any standard of living now since everything thing has now increased.

What of those blacks killed like animals and fowls in the USA? Or the mass shootings there,I'm sure you haven't left Nigeria before because if you had,you will be more informed than this ignorance u showed

As a black man in a black nation, how safe are you?

Of the 1,126 Americans killed by the police in the US in 2020, 122 were African-Americans. The rest were whites, Asians, Latinos, Native Americans, etc.

Now, how many Nigerians are killed by the Nigerian police every year? How many Nigerians are killed by cultists, armed robbers, bandits, ritual killers etc? More Nigerians are killed in this country than we think. Some people just vanish into thin air and no investigation is carried out to ascertain what happened to them.

The reason why we are aware that blacks are killed in the US is because the killings are often reported, unlike in Nigeria.

There are 500,000 - 3,000,000 Nigerians in America. When was the last time you heard that a Nigerian was shot in America by the police?

I put it to you that you are safer in America than you are in your own country.

If you are unjustly killed in America, people will protest and demand that your killers be brought to book. If you are unjustly killed in Nigeria, you'll be forgotten in a twinkling of an eye, and if your family decides to fight for justice, the Nigerian police will make sure they milk them dry.

I recently lost my sister and we suspect that she was murdered. The autopsy was done in a different state, we had to pay the policemen's transport fare, lodge them in a hotel and fed them, as well as, gave them money when they were going back. Everything is about money. The more money you are willing to spend, the more fuel you add to the NPF's willingness to investigate a case that matters to you.

You can't compare Nigeria to the US.
