fallacy, Australia is more harder and not straight forward, since last year they have made the points high and you have to go to rural areas if you qualify.after living there for 2 or 3 years you now qualify for PR, but canada is not like that. Your degree must also match your work experience, visa fee is also over 1m naira. Just check the canada and Australia threads on nairaland, the Australia thread is almost dead as most Nigerians don't qualify anymore. Many Nigerian students are lamenting, you go there as student, next day your occupation /course has been removed from demand list, then you go for another course of which same fate can befall you

You using RURAL AREA makes it seem like it's some sort of village or desert. They call it REGIONAL AREA mainly because of the population in those areas. Note that any other city in Australia aside Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane is considered a REGIONAL AREA. Even the capital of Australia ( Canberra ) is also considered a REGIONAL AREA.

Even looking at it in the long run, regional areas are good for immigrants because of the lower cost of living when compared to the 3 major cities in Australia. Or should we talk about international students getting 3 years work visa after studying in a regional area for 2 years or more. The downside to these regional area is that they have a lower population hence getting a professional job might be harder.

As regarding people occupation been removed from the demand list. Australia has a occupational demand list, this list have two categories - Short Term Skilled Occupational Demand list ( STSOL ) and Medium- and Long-Term Strategic Skill List ( MLTSSL ).

One ought to be very strategic especially when you have PR in mind when travelling to Aussie. Occupations under Health, Engineering or IT can't easily be removed from their demand list because most countries need these people.

I still house the opinion that Aussie is more straightforward especially when your are strategic.

you are still an undergraduate you have no factual experience except what you read online, i have 2 friends who schooled in Australia that are now processing canada immigration. You can never find anyone schooling in canada who is doing Australia immigration. There is nothing straightforward about their immigration. Ordinary assessments of degree and work experience is an hassle. Your occupation has to be in demand in those regional areas to even qualify. That's bullshit biko. Even the Australian thread on NL is on part 2 while canada is on part 10. E get why

You actually made me laugh.

This is Nairaland, you dont know me neither do you know who I know. Well, I guess having friends over there equals having factual experience.

At least it's good to know that you didnt say I was wrong like you did the last time.

I would advise that you ask your friends their reasons for wanting to leave Aussie because I feel like it just personal preference.

Aussie threads on here are not active mainly because not many Nigerians move there ( which is perfect if you ask me ).
Canada is also an awesome place and might have an easier migration process but then there are still people that the process frustrate. Same way there are also people that had a smooth Australia PR process.

Las las it's you and your Chi

Very right chief, no where is easy. Even Ghana has some level of difficulties attached but if you have the money, proper documents and will power, you would scale through.

Have an awesome week ahead.

Wait oh, being eligible for the PR process after studies is dependent on one's course being included on the Demand List? shocked

its a points system, some occupation are deemed not in demand and have special points. Like accountant and auditor points for a long time was 90 to 95, d highest i could attain in points was 70 as a Nigerian, maybe as a student I could have gotten 85 points. But last month due to covid shortage they now need accountants lol points don drop. If they fill the shortage, it will go up again. They want people to go to those regional areas, after staying there a while u become pr. But canada even if you did province nomination you still go as a PR and can leave the province after informing them and stating valid reasons like marriage, lucrative job elsewhere etc

Then you should be believed as the migration thread on NL has become a graveyard and not many Nigerians apply as fee-paying students to Aussie universities. I think only medical doctors and techies should aim to migrate to Australia.

As someone who got PR in both Australia and Canada.. I would say getting the Australian PR is much more easier than Canada if you are using the right occupation and have all documents in place . I had interest in Canada and got frustrated and left the pool and applied for the Australian PR and got it within 3 Months. Please note I had excellent scores so I scaled through quite easily and got invited a day after filling the EOI on the Australian Immigration Website. Along the line, Canada invited me to apply and I ended up with both PR's for me and my family. I eventually choose Canada and I don't regret it. The Australia system was very fast and organized and very straight forward. They seem to share the same system believe it as i passed through the medicals of both countries.

Why is it that Nigerians destination is Canada?

What is the motive behind this? Why not Australia?

Let us discuss!

Largely because it's easier to secure a Canadian visa compared to an Australian visa.
