wants to buy a corrolla South African type as a Nigerian Used, it was originally bought by a bank, then they put it on instalment payment to one of their staff, after he paid off he claimed the ownership.

After two years usage the staff sold it off to one of his nephew.

So I want to buy from the nephew, but my confusion is the guy said South African model doesn't have custom duty, it only has receipt of purchase from SA.

How true is it pls, he said that custom never bothered him about it.

And how does the receipt looks like.

True...car was bought brand new by company in fleet, either they imported the cars themselves or bought from an importer like coscharis or other Toyota sales/service partners. Duty was paid in bulk and they don't issue it to individual car owners. The receipt will show proof company bought it from franchise dealer.
Coupled with the fact that it was HP payment sef.

But u have nothing to worry about custom papers for car that has been in Nigeria for 10yrs. Nobody is going to ask u for custom papers even if it was smuggled in at the time of first registration.

But assuming they are in good condition, buy and drive, Uber ready. Then go for the Corolla anyday anytime.
Why will u buy a naija used 05 civic for 1.5m when u can get 04 Corolla for 1.6m
For me, Civics are a choice over Corolla because they are way cheaper.

Without asking too many questions, there is no way under heaven one will drive for that long full-time without rating dropping to 4.6 at some point and driver needing to raise it back by either being unusually kind or asking riders to rate or finding a way to request urself or asking people to request u just so u get that rating back up.

It's not a bad thing to ask for rating if the account is important to u. Even if u have to beg for it...whatever u can do to avoid being blocked the third time better do it before u start looking for account to buy.

Reason why I said experience will clear his curiosity.

I've never begged anyone before. I've never even reminded a rider to do that, talkless of begging in my 2yrs of moving Lagos up and down.

Sometimes, after a good ride, some riders would say "I'll rate you 5star". My reply to them is that I equally rated you 5star over here.
I don't even tell them Thanks for that.

Well there was a time in my first year, rating dropped below 4.5, it must be because of the car I was using then, cmpressor was bad for months and owner refused ro change it. I had to use the back end to boost it and I changed.
But ever since I changed cars there has never been a reason to use the back end
