NIN was created to track Biafra agitators and not the bandits.

Here is a simple way to track kidnappers

Stop the sale of pre-registered and pre-linked SIMS

Restrict everyone to one to five SIMS for mobile networks only

Arrest anyone who sells his SIM

Bandits would be forced to use their real numbers....and be easily tracked.

let's stop falling for the deceit of these guys. They are never serious about tracking terrorists and bandits. They know what to do when serious.

It's quite unfortunate about the happenings in these states. If there is one thing I know, is even without the NIN-SIM registration, if the Nigeria Police wants to apprehend these bandits, they will do it.

They're just being lazy like many federal and state civil servant, who do nothing all day, but, at the end of the month, collect their salary.

Who told you the number the bandits used to call you...was their real number?

Remember the recent kidnap case in Abuja where the kidnappers demanded payment in bitcoin? They traced the number...to a random hawker in one of the markets. When questioned, the guy said one random woman bought his sim. Of course...he could not describe the woman..and he had never met her before in his life...nor did he see her again.

For all we know, them bandits have lots of such numbers...stolen, registered by proxies, or bought...and use their real numbers for non-criminal activities.

A better alternative would be to track the bandits via triangulation off the nearest mobile antenna.

Also, let's be honest. Our police gets 2 billion dollars to police 200 million people. NYPD of the USA gets 10 billion dollars to police 25 million people. Nigeria needs to change the way we run our economy to earn enough to fund our law enforcement adequately.

You're making sense until your last paragraph.

As if they haven't been allocating money to NPF that they embezzled at will.

The hawker sold his sim card to a woman who asked him to sell it to her...a woman he did not know at all. At no point did he know what the card would be used for, until the cops came knocking.

And we need a database of some sorts. That's why SIM-NIN linkage is important.

Infact, one reason why we need the linkage...people were buying pre-registered SIMS(essentially one guy can buy 50 sims, register them in his name, and then sell them on to individuals who don't want to wait in line for SIM registraiton)...which can make it dififcult to track kidnappers and bandits...who would buy such sims.

You are not making any iota of sense!
The idea is to geo locate the Sim card to the nearest mast and then coordinate where the sim was last used or being used!

They don't go to the address of the registered owner of the simcard!

Damn!

What I know is that the North will eventually be consumed by the evils it created and still creating.

They open their borders and allow in all forms of animals, they inflict poverty on their people and deny them education, thinking numbers means strength. All these deliberately for political advantage. They may think they're winning the power game against the South, but they can never escape the exodus coming to the North.

This is why I can never support one Nigeria, because the North will never grow. They will remain backwards for centuries to come.

Today even in Lagos, I fear for our people because these foreigners who we know are not really Hausas have taken over the population. It is like that in almost all states at the moment and the earlier southern governments starts repatriating them the better.

Typical of Nigerians. They wont think about the process. You can only escalate when the deadline has passed. Right now, no SIM has been revoked even if not registered.
