I have a Toyota Camry 2006 model, the fuel consumption is very high compared with other 06 models I have driven. It was scanned and discovered there is no catalytic converter; now my mech is quoting 100k for both catalyst (up and down). My questions are:

1) Whats the real price of this catalyst ?
2) Will it solve the fuel consumption problem or its the work of another component (02 sensor) ??

Nothing has been installed, exhaust is quite loud too

Original is expensive. But china version is cheap. Check jiji for the price. Probably call the number of the sellers for more details

Alright, but what else could affect fuel economy apart from catalyst, could it be o2 sensors ?

1st Oxygen sensor immediately after exhaust outlet from engine. It is A/F sensor, which play a major role in your fuel consumption.

Alright, what about the one downstream?

calculation:
1st Oxygen sensor immediately after exhaust outlet from engine. It is A/F sensor, which play a major role in your fuel consumption.

It monitor the efficiency of catalytic converter. It is not playing role in engine fuel.
