The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it received 542,576 online applications in the first two weeks of the resumption of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), which commenced on June 28, 2020.

INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made the announcement at a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC), yesterday, in Abuja.

According to Yakubu, 456,909 were fresh registrants while 85,667 applied for voter transfer, replacement of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), update of voter information record, among others.

A breakdown of the figure by The Guardian revealed that of the 456,909 fresh registrants, 353,369 came from the South while 103,540 reside in the North, indicating a disparity of 249,829.

Rating the applications according to geo-political zones, The Guardian discovered that so far, the Southwest recorded the highest applicants with 242,738 new registrants. The South-South followed with 79,614 while North Central has 69,072.

Also, about 31,017 new applications came from the Southeast while the commission received 20,866 from the Northwest. The Northeast recorded the lowest with 13,602 applications.

A state-by-state breakdown revealed that Osun has the highest number of new registrants with 154, 893, Lagos, 44,789 while Ebonyi recorded the least with 610.

The development might not be unconnected to the Internet divide between the North and South of Nigeria.

We have voter apathy in the South East because many believe that votes don't count in Nigeria.

My counter argument is:
If votes don't count in Nigeria, then why do politicians waste money, time and resources to entice voters? Why do Northerners engage in child voting? Why do they share money, food, clothes, motorcycles, cars, etc. during elections?

We should have a change of mindset. We should come to the realization that our votes actually count and when we don't come out to vote, we encourage corruption by the politicians.

Let me explain:
If a ward in a local government has 1000 eligible voters and only 200 people come out to vote, then there's a deficit of 800 votes. So the political parties involved rig the election by using the 800 eligible voters who did not vote. But when more than 90% of the eligible voters
(say 960) turn out to cast their votes, then it will reduce the degree of election malpractice in Nigeria.

Hehehe.

We are waiting for them to start the proper counting and registration of the senior citizens from the north, I mean (cows).

They will soon shock us with minor's and animals. Born to rule mentality will make them go any length to remain dominant in Nigeria.

North thinks they are born to rule because the South has always been divided.

A United South is atleast 20% more stronger than the entire North in every aspect.

The South is even more populated with smart and intelligent folks.

The future has just began.

Say Goodbye to Northern Dominance.

And again,. A Fulani will never be president of Nigeria again.

Maybe because of the online registration factor and the desperation of the South West Nigeria to push out Buhari.
