The Nigerian military on Wednesday released 1,009 ex-Boko Haram insurgents, who had been in military custody at Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Many of these "fighters" were villagers kidnapped by BH and forced to fight for them! They are victims! So you punish them twice?
Others were people arrested not on battlefields but based on intelligence. So, some have been investigated and found innocent. So they are being released.
