Guns are the last hope of a common man. USA knows exactly what they are doing by making guns available to their citizens. Modern governments are not perfect, leadership can be hijacked by unscrupulous elements who use the power of the state for selfish gains. In such a scenario, poor people surfer most and their lives sacrificed on a platter. But knowing that they are dealing with fully armed citizens, such governments will think twice before doing something egregious. Though you can say the rate of gun violence will increase among the people, but guns don't kill people by itself, the killing can be done by the use of any weapon.
