Besides I was a one way champion until This impoundment and auction ish started

I’ve come to realize it’s all about laziness and impatience else why follow one way
Going wrong way on a street where you can't even exceed 30km/hr doesn't put anyone's life at risk.

E no go pass all these local government officials looking for ways to extort people.

I was held one day in one street. They said I passed through one way - imagine in a street. They showed me one tiny signboard indicating it is a one way route. The signboard was hidden behind another signboard. See how multitude jumped at me claiming officials. I am fed up of this country

With every little power Nigerians have, we oppress ourselves.

What street bro?
Re: How I Narrowly Escaped Vehicle Impoundment in Lagos by TOYOON: 5:49pm On Jul 19, 2021
Unfortunately, this is where we found ourselves. Lagos state government empowering area boys calling them LASMA, KAI & task force. There excesses is so much without checks. They own most of the Danfo and the small buses used for commercial purpose. If a neutral individual tries to do business where they operate..... they will fraustrate life out of the person by everyday arrest and eventual impounding the vehicle. May God help us

Today I was driving in Lagos and suddenly I saw the car in front of me make a U-turn. I didn't take it serious then the car in front of me signalled to me to make a U-turn.

Before I could make a U-turn this towing vehicle was already in front of me. As I turned, the next thing I saw is the towing vehicle reversing straight towards my car at high speed. The speed was high enough to crush my car and and even give me and my passenger serious injury.

Thank God, I managed to dodge the towing vehicle.

Firstly, there was nothing to indicate that it's a one-way.

Secondly, this car could have injured me or perhaps killed me and even gotten away with it.

Thirdly, it wasn't even on a highway or expressway. It was on a local street, why put people's lives at risk in enforcing a "crime" that doesn't put people's lives at risk?

Now, I'm wondering:

1. How does the Lagos State Government justify this act?

2. Is this how the Lagos state government impounded all those cars they show on the news?

That is how they impound most of those vehicles. The majority of people arrested for road traffic offenses in Lagos are ignorant that they committed any. Road signs are always hidden behind trees or removed by these "traffic enforcers" who then hang around waiting for their prey.

You're even lucky. In many cases, LASTMA and the agberos they work with will direct you to take one way so a second team hiding at the middle or end of that road will impound it.

Go there again, and you will see the sign. My problem with them is they will put the sign where you can not see it while driving or they are rather too small.

Re: How I Narrowly Escaped Vehicle Impoundment in Lagos by bfn1: 6:12pm On Jul 19, 2021
Oba Akinjobi way, Ikeja (directly opposite LASUTH main gate).

There's a 'U-turnable' space like that directly opposite LASUTH main gate. Sometimes, you'll even see the traffic controller iron box at that turn. It would always look like a legitimate path for an unsuspecting driver, but na big trap & source of income for the policemen observing you from afar (at the intersection near the bridge).

Once you take the bait, na you go make the full U-turn and jejely go & drive into their hands at the intersection (controlled by traffic light).

Is there a warning signpost? Yes, there is - behind a tree. But until recently when the tree was cut down, it used to be largely hidden by the low hanging branch of that tree. Hardly would you notice at a first glance.

Cele bridge roundabout as you drive back to connect Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.

Those guys milked me twice. The signpost is not even there.

The way their urchin jumped into my car, I swear, if I had a gun, I would have shot him dead!

My advise is that you use Google Maps when driving. It will to a large degree direct your movements in around the streets.

The truth is that the Lagos State Government has become overly dubious and cruel in their extortion of Lagosians.
I can bet that 90% of the cars impounded were wrongly and deceitfully done.
I have experienced a similar situation with yours (@Isolo descending from Daleko bridge) and so many situations.
You have Lastma officials and police conniving with some touts to perpetrate these crimes.

Devil's advocate spotted.
The activities of overzealous and unscrupulous lastma/ViO have led to many an unnecessary death . There are many such hot spots where these predators lie in wait to extort hapless lagosians. Seems ex -gov Ambode has suffered from there excess before and so cautioned their operations very well. As per Governor SanwoOlu I pray his eyes and ears will hear the cries of their victims and help out

Lalasticlala, can we get more opinions.

I've Experienced this in other states as well. The traffic officers behave like ambush predators.

They wait for you to bite the bait then jump out of nowhere and pounce on you.

But trying to kill someone for driving against traffic is another level and I've never seen it in another state except Lagos.

Thank God óò. This feels wicked. Risking people's lives for traffic offence. Why? And no road sign sef.

For this asking for Location, it's around Unilag, Yaba.

I swear I'm tired. Person manage to narrowly escape poverty legitimately only for some leeches/animals/oppressors in uniform to make life unbearable.

What did you expect, your governor is a junkie

Roads without signs that are created to enrich jobless touts.

Just be careful next time. Watch the pattern of cars parked on the street before you drive on. If they are all facing one direction, stop and ask question o.
oga leave that one....this APC touts parked cars to convince the unknown car to follow one way..,.

The day they almost got me at Ago okota roundabout inward surulere......the kind reverse I used that day....before they got to me I've already turned and faced normal way......came down from my car and start doing video.....they were like "baba why now...oya give us something to flex weekend"....
