You speak nothing but the truth. I was in Katsina for a programme. I went to visit a cousin in a school. They were writing SSCE then. I asked a student who came for exam what paper they were writing that day. He boldly told me, ba turenchi (No English).
They write answers for them on the board. Time and energy won't allow me to pour out what I saw. Education there is a mirage.

Its use as lingua franca aside, I think it's OK for people not to speak English in their own country. We're not English, and something inside me cringes when I speak English (my native tongue is Enuani - a dialect of the Igbo Language).

So I personally condone somebody boldly telling you they don't speak English. How many English care to speak Irish or Welsh?

COvid-19 has taught us that you don't need to be present physically onsite before you can work. However, I also learned another lesson, you don't need to get a physical job first, before working remotely.
