ABUJA – A High Court of the Feder­al Capital Territory sitting in Maitama has ordered the remand of one Mohammed Buhari for allegedly selling and receiving the sum of N7.5 million for a parcel of land.

The Federal Government, in the charge dated June 15, alleged that Buhari had on or about November 5, 2018, by false pretence, collected the sum of N7.5m from an unsus­pecting buyer, pretending that he was the owner of a parcel of land situated at Sabon Lug­be in Abuja.

Consequently, he was ar­raigned on Thursday on one-count charge dated June 15, which borders on obtaining money by false pretence.

The prosecution had told the court that the defendant received payment for the land through his bank.

By the act, he was said to have committed an offence contrary to section 1(1) (a) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Of­fences Act, 2006, and punish­able under section 1(3) of the same Act.
