I agree with you, everything about Ikwerres points them to the igboid family, but for political reasons your people the Ikwerres are denying trying to rewrite history pointing themselves to the bini kingdom, they think they are hurting the igbos by doing that but they are doing damage to the little that is left of the Ikwerre history, people like wike came out to repeat the Statment of Ikwerres migrated from bini it's funny

I am a Riversman, I am not an Ikwerre man. I believe the Ikwerre peoples quest for a new political identity separate from south east igbos makes sense when looked at from the context of rivers state affairs, because the other non igboic tribes were weary of being dominated by igbo people, If the ikwerre people had wrapped themselves with igbo cloth and igbo pride, then the peaceful co existense between them and other minority tribes in rivers state would not have been possible.

Atleast now we can all call ourselves rivers people, as if it were to be a tribe, and one thing we all have in common is that we do not want to be called igbo people as people have been doing to most south south tribes for centuries simply because their grandparents understood igbo. Although there some rivers igbos who have no problem with their igbo identity like the etches, omuma, and oyigbo people. But these are smaller clans and they can afford to do that without creating any imbalance within the state.

Also since also the fulani led nigerian government wanted to stifle the igbo tribe, if the ikwerres stood by their igbo identity then I can assure you all of igbo people would have suffered it. Igbo people have massively benefited from the massive federal presence in Rivers State, If the Ikwerre people had embraced igbo identity, when bayelsa state was being created, I am sure the riverine non igboic tribes of rivers state would have opted to join bayelsa and the government of the day being anti igbo would have granted it and ikwerres and other igboic clans in River state would have been left to form a state, and the oil sector within that state wouldhave been abandoned like the federal government has abandoned oil activity in the south east, and rather oil wells that were closer to rivers state were annexed into Rivers State and drilled as Rivers Oil.

If Nigeria had turned out to be a great country with reasonable leaders, then what the Ikwerre people were doing for their survival and by extension the survival of igboic people in Rivers State is not unreasonable. It is/was all about Survival.

The reason why I and some people from other neutral Rivers tribes are now speaking out is because the Dynamics of the Politics in Nigeria has changed and the trajectory for the country is obviously not what we thought would become of the country barely looking at it from 20 years ago.

As it stands the people who are truly plotting and preparing theirselves to exit from Nigeria are the northerners, which explains the rush to buld railway tracks from lagos (their intended port of use) to Maidugiri and further in many kilometers into Moradi, Niger Republic to the tune of 1.9 Billion dollars. Also the new PIB bill which will give them 30 percent from Oil proceedings to make sure they find oil in their place. If truly these people belived in Nigeria, their people would have been demonstrating in mass by just hearing that 1.9Billion Dollars was about to be spent to build a train track to Niger, that money would transform the north in many other ways.

Buhari was a student of Tafawa Balewa and Aminu Kanu, the aim of these two people was never originally to form an unbreakable country with the south of nigeria, rather it was to take as much as possible from the south and build a true Muslim nation of their own, they said it with their own mouth. This is why all of these events are happening under Buhari and the man is acting deaf. Obviously he is not deaf, he is just playing a script.

If you understand my above sentence, then you will understand the undertones to my write up. Any nigerian minority tribe that is not plotting the survival of their people and bulding bridges at this point will see their people lumped together with a wrong group once this country seizes to exist.

As a person from a small tribe in the creeks in Rivers state, we see the ikwerres as our brothers and fellow Riverians, Where the ikwerre people go is where my people will go, If we are looking at this from a perspective of future surival my people can not follow the some ikwerre in pokeing the southeast igbos, because in honestly these people can easily settle their differences in the future as brothers, and those of us non igbos will now be left out. Amaechi can come and claim that he has always championed igbo issues and always stood with his igbo identity, other notable Ikwerres will come and say the same thing, and people Notable Ikwerres like Uche Okwukwu will come and sing igbo songs and their people will settle theirselves, people like Wike will be asked to issue apologies , matter don die be that, what about those non igboic clans wey follow them?

As Rivers People we have to start placing our state on a neutral ground, just as the people from Akwa Ibom and cross river people are doing to give us a soft landing on future alliances. Thats all I am saying.

Well all you have said so far is that the Ikwerres denial of their igbo roots it's a political survival strategy and a cowardice act of not wanting to be treated harshly by those who don't like the igbos that's just it

You said igbos have benefited from the massive federal presence in rivers state as if igbos are treated special in rivers state?

Well in same spirit of survival strategy.
When jungle mature, this current Igbo generation will also use Ikwerre and minorities to play our our survival game.
And we will be so ruthless about it, that even the devil will be amazed.

We just hope when the time comes, you all understand and bear with us, afterall, it's all done in same spirit of survival mode.

Oranmiyan created Binin empire, even you king can acknowledge that
Do you know that Ogodomigodo dynasty was on for thousands of years, before Ogiso dynasty, then the Oba dynasty, these have existed for thousands of years before the Oba kingship came to Ile' Ife from Benin...the Benin Empire did not start with the Oba dynasty.

My young friend, you are entitled to your own opinion, this is a faceless forum, we dont really know who you are or what interests you are pursuing on this site but know this. If this country were to disintegrate, then people of old East with shared ancestary and common goals will come together for nation building, a nation where hate speech like yours will be a crime, and a site like nairaland will never be allowed to exist.

Remain Blessed!

You're so d**b.

From the fake info you posted, it shows the various conflicts lasted years, unlike yours that only lasted a day.

What does your empty sk*ll tell you about that?
It simply means the British didn't have an easy ride during those conflicts like they did in your place.
I saw some lasted over 20 years, and a shame*l*s being like you have the effrontery to compare your we*k-ass people to Igbos.

Where did you get that nonesense from? Ijaw has never ruled over the Igbos.
Igbos are too individualistic to be under themselves let alone a minority group.

When the British arrived Igboland, they aptly buttressed that Igbos were stateless and had no kings and each villager decided and controlled their destiny. Where the hell is this story of Ijaws coming from.

Britian has never done anything to favour Igbos in Nigeria. Anything Igbos have today is by sheer hardwork and zeal.

I understand what Reno is doing.
Every tribe in Nigeria will now have the audacity to claim to have ruled over the Igbos and even taken them as slaves.

Reno is a Bigot and idiot.

Igbos being individualistic actually leaves them prone to be subdued by another group. Except you mean something else by 'individualistic".

You said grandeur? Show me which African group that came out of so much destruction with 20pounds and still caught up with the rest of you to the point you have to spew gibberish and anti igbo rhetoric all over the place. You have to be specially created to achieve a feat like that.

As usual.... you prove that most igbos have nothing upstairs but hot air.

Your first paragraph is simply debunking your earlier claim of igbos not being subjugated plus it's not like you didn't have countries like Isreal and France supporting you and it wasn't necessary the whole world against biafra war.

Your second paragraph again proves your deep ignorance and fake history passed down to you by your ungrateful parents. £20 as at that time was worth around £500 of today and when you consider that the average yearly wage for all Nigerians before the war was £15 a year you'd find out that Awolowo paid your parents wages for a year and some months. You stupid mofos never talk of how ojukwu looted the biafran bank shortly before running abroad disguised as a woman....you can use this £20 gaslighting on ignorant folks like you...I ain't buying it.

Last paragraph is you reaffirming your delusions. Lmao...dumb mofo.

Giving 20pounds to people that individually had more than that in their accounts of course is part of your agenda to frustrate the Igbos yet they caught up with you all. You all should be ashamed.
Don't come at me with that nonsense when your tribe has never experienced and conquered attempts to frustrate their lives after a war.

Wrong, You didn't subdue Igbos. Nigerians aided by world powers committed a genocide against Biafra. If the war was a one on one thing between Igbos and Nigeria, your logic would have been adopted.

Biafra got recognized by a few countries but didn't get the assistance it needed to fight a war to the effect that they had to build their own weapons. Is that what you want to compare with Nigeria that had navy on lock down, armaments and air support from Egypt, Britian and other top countries.

Years after the way, Igbos rose to the top and Nigeria has regressed expeditiously and still warming up to fight what they fought 50yrs ago. LMAO.
Places in Nigeria that were never hit like bombs are like shitholes are war torn regions today.
That is not something to be proud of.
If Igbos are not an Enigma, you wouldn't be here investing time spewing trash about them. That makes you stupid.

Igbos were never subdued and never in the precolonial days in the context of this thread.

Inchorent catshit. Bye.

We Igbos also have Yoruba ,Bini and itshekiri slaves among us.

We also have Bini and Yoruba related names in Igboland

That doesn't stop the fact that an Igbo man was once an Oba of Bini...fact check..

Proudly Igbo. Proudly republican. Proudly enterprising. Proudly bullish and loud.

Reno Omokri should jump into orimmiri Ngene with his daydreaming slave master tales. I am not moved.

When did you become Igbo?

Have you ever heard of ibo empire grin

The whole world knows of Benin Empire, dumb heads. You guys are too dumb to be in same league with us. Remember UK is a small country but colonized and still weilds control over most of the world's countries, cos it's colonies still respect and fear her, it's same, Ibos fear Edos, cos they have been conquered and enslaved by us. It's same with Isreal and the Arab nations sorounding her, they are more than Isreal 5 to 1, but Isreal destroyed them all in battle. Never compare you weaklings to the Edo man, a hundred Edo men will take out a thousand Biafrans, ask your fore fathers who were our slaves they will tell you...Thank your stars for amalgamation and the world order.
This una fictitious"Bini Empire" where did it start and where did it stop? Your fictitious Bini Empire couldn't even conquer Agbor kingdom that is next door to it. I am going to tell you a history Bini have almost whitewashed from existence. There was a time in the back and forth tussle with Agbor kingdom that Agbor invaded and occupied Bini kingdom for a few years. In other words, Agbor defeated Bini in battle. Ask any elderly or cultural Bini, he will know that history. I read about it when I schooled there.

Stop sounding like a disturbed over fed baby. Go and do your research very well . all Edo's are yoruba
There is nothing Yoruba about Edo people. There might have been cultural or historic ties sometimes in the past, but if it is about DNA, I can conclusively tell you that Edo and Yoruba are completely different people altogether. I have lived in Lagos all my life and I schooled in Edo state, I have met and interacted with the two sets of people at close range, there is no similarity whatsoever be it in attitude or physical appearance between the two tribes.

There is absolutely no similarity between them. They don't even dress the same way, they don't even eat the same type of food, their music is even different. The H factor is missing completely in Edo people. I can go on an on.

Thank you.
