As far as I am concerned the Constitution itself is flawed...

Imagine 469 people with each one of them taking home 29m every month, without any reasonable bills, and you are still searching for why things are this bad, Buhari is a very big problem in Nigeria but he's not the only problem, just ask yourself how their salaries increased to that amount, under whose regime?

Makes sense but it is akin to asking someone in a juicy job position to sack him/herself. It will not happen without external pressure.

I support a unicameral legislature but having every state have the same number is nonsense. There is no democracy if a state with a small population has the same number of legislators as a state three times its population.

I rather opine that Nigeria only needs 37 senators in her federal legislature according to the present state structure. The 37 senators should be capable of delivering legislative duties at the federal level with a trimmed down items in exclusive legislative list: Defense & Fed Police, Immigration, Foreign Affairs, Money & Economy, Standards... and a few items in the concurrent duties like Education, Health, Agriculture ...

The state legislatures should take care of other issues like Taxes and share with the revenues with the centre.

To save Nigeria's economy and sanitize the polity, legislature should be made a part time work with the legislators placed on national minimum wage scale of 18k as other government workers .If civil servants can survive on 18k,legislators should also live on that.
And with that, there will be no need to assign personal security to them just like civil servants.

But why should it matter? If the PIB fiasco is anything to go by, you see how easily a particular region can use their numbers to always favor them.

I don't think it should be so

As far as I'm concerned, the large state can use thier numbers to decide the executive, but I think when it comes to lawmaking, just a representative per state will suffice, irrespective of size

This is complete bunkum. Many are not aware of the rationale of the framers of the American Constitution to adopt a bicameral legislature. They just think it is there for fashion and what not. No, it is not.

The House of Representatives is to reflect the population of each state while the Senate deals with equality of states. Why would Lagos, which has way more population than Gombe or Ekiti and brings more to the table, be equal with those states? Why should Rivers (which has more than 3 times the population of let’s say Bayelsa) be given equal representation?

Buhari doesn't pay them salaries; there's an agency that sets and pays them salaries. Where I consider your oldie in Aso Rock utterly useless is that he hasn't carried out any sweeping reforms to transform this country. He appears to me like someone who is scared of stepping on toes even though we were told he is a retired general.

Given the way he touted the war on corruption, I thought he would even empower the EFCC to be more proactive by checking how state governors spend their resources before they are spent. The antigraft agencies need to be proactive to stop corruption, not charging corrupt people to court to recover already squandered money.
