Onitsha is the economic hub of the eastern region. Due to the shut down in economic activities today in the city, it has been estimated that the city lost over 10 billion naira because people from all over Nigeria and neighbouring countries of Cameroon, Togo, Benin republic, Chad, Niger and Ghana could not come into the city due to shut down.
