Shackman which one do you want to dispute. Kenya is not dead economy like South Africa. Kenya is massively investing in roads and other infrastructure - and closing the infrastructure deficit - in roads, electricity, power, broadband, name it.

1) Kenya road network has by now certainly exceeded 250k.

The valuation of the 246,757.26 kilometres of roads, which include 40,002.34km trunk roads, is more than Kenya’s Sh3.06 trillion budget, highlighting the impact of Jubilee administration’s accelerated investment in roads in the past decade.

KRB data says the country has 161,821km classified roads, 34,000km unclassified or new roads with more than nine-metre road reserve and 50,000 km narrow roads that have less than nine-metre road reserve
https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/bd/economy/state-values-road-network-at-sh3-5trn-before-audit-3472282

2) In 2017 - kenya had paved 20,600 - by now in 2021 - the figures has certainly passed 25k - so by now - we might even be talking 30k.

Remember kenya is now adding more than 2,000 paved roads annually

That is better than 90 percent of Lagos. Don't bring Abuja into this....first build paved roads. In that picture I see it has everything - paved roads, paved walkways. What exactly is wrong there?

Blah! Blah!! Blah!!! See pain-5 years down the line and u are still scrambling for pics online to dignify the mess of Mombasa-and while that didn’t work u are held up on old footages ,pics of Abuja to prove a point to rise ur Arabian slum is a worth to be called a city-latest bring videos, pics that prove ur claims on Abuja not nonsense from 2016 or 2017 -else ur Mombasa is at the mercies of every cities on this thread-no city has it this bad here-I spit on Mombasa .

Coz one link is 2017 - and the other 2021 July. Kenya is undergoing massive infrastructural expansion and closing the deficit. By the same time next year - the figures will be totally different.

1) World fastest electrification that has seen number of household connected rise from 2m in 2014 to now 8.2M. That is almost 400 percent increases in less than 10yrs. Kenya has been adding 0.6M new household annually.

2) Kenya paved road was merely 11k in 2014 - and it now grown to 25K plus. New roads are being opened all over. Road network has grown to hit 250K - and soon will be near South Africa level. Be very afraid. Once we hit 350k - then per country size wise - we'd be in the same level.

3) Kenya rehabilitating it's old railways and has added of course 700kms of new rail in last few years.

4) Kenya ordinary taxes have doubled in the same period - and so has kenya budget.

BE VERY AFRAID

Hence why u are blind-if u see nothing wrong in this then I see why this argues has lasted 5 years and counting (this is trash for lack of a better word)-I see a broken down infrastructure and a chaotic mess city-nuke this zoo and start all over-good road in Mombasa is like rocket science.

I don't see anything wrong with that picture except those business premises blocking the walkways. I see it all paved.

Afraid of what?

South Africa road Audit has not being done in almost 10 years

Many roads has and are still being constructed, just that to some of us are so used to seeing so much construction its not a read deal at all wink

In south Africa there are no youtubers marveling at roads construction, we see it all the time from small villages to big cities.

In terms of construction

Here's something to consider, not sure about the date but its worth looking at, also check cement consumption its very important

Many developed countries have some of the best roads in the world. The German autobahn system, for example, is a dream come true for motorists: hundreds of miles of asphalt to be conquered at over 120 miles per hour or even faster. Generally, Germany has better roads than most countries in Europe, but Singapore, Switzerland and the Netherlands have even better. Having good roads does not mean that the entire country is covered. The Road Connectivity Index ranks Switzerland 40th and the Netherlands 24th in road connectivity.

The United States ranks 11th in road quality but takes the top spot in the connectivity index. Saudi Arabia and Spain rank second and third, respectively. France is the only country that appears in the top 10 countries with quality roads and extensive connectivity. The following are countries with the best road connectivity.

Lets stick to roads

Dont be suprised by "them", the even celebrate paving of a road in their capital city. Something that we have in villages and rural areas.

The act like a kid who thinks because they just bought a 19 inch tv at home thinks the rest of the neighborhood does not have,,, grin grin this side we got 80 inches and we been having it for years and we still getting more

Please talk about Nigeria - a country the size of South Africa - now with road network the size of kenya.
South Africa has 750K of road network - Kenya is at 250k. South Africa is twice as big as kenya.
Once kenya hit 350k road network - we would be at par with South Africa connectivity wise.

What we will struggle of course is to paved AND MAINTAIN (not nigeria) to say 150,000Km like South Africa,

We are now close to 30k - that means - our road network need to grow 5 times.

And considering we have grown twice in less than 10yrs - we need about 15yrs max to get South Africa level.

Where will South Africa be in 15yrs - they could be stuck, they could be decayed or they could have woken up.

All the prognosis for medium term of SOuth Africa says it will be at best stuck in a middle class rut like many Latin America countries
