Yet despite very low revenue, they are adding more debt... Nigeria’s revenue-to-Gross Domestic Product ratio, which fell to between five and six per cent last year, is the lowest in the world, the World Bank said on Monday. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/nigerias-revenue-to-gdp-ratio-lowest-private-sector-choking-wbank/%3famp 6 Likes

Nigeria has successfully diversified her economy. This effort has been on for the past 6years but gathered momentum in the last 2years of the Next Level Agenda. Now, Nigeria can boast of internally generated revenue from non-oil sectors such as : 1. Mass kidnapping of School Children 2. BANDITRY 3. Herdsmen 4. Boko Haram 5. Corruption 142 Likes 5 Shares |

There is money in the country, only that leaders need to channel productivity towards what we need. mrvitalis:Good morning Prof., what Is GDP and why is It used in measuring economic strength of Nations (The wealth of Nations)? International Organizations will come up with different advice on National policies without considering the impact on the populace and you stand here asking me.... The write up is not even talking about bad shape of the GDP (1st in Africa) but that the GDP is skewed to petroleum. It takes a good leader to rejig the skew towards producing what is consumed in Nigeria, to reduce imports, save foreign Exchange, reduce borrowings, improve exportations and reduce inflation. Most multinationals came to Nigeria without investing in its infrastructure, without setting up production plants or refineries. At times they pay little or no Taxes to Nigerian Governments (Thanks to strong Accounting Team which local SMEs may not have). Guess what today they are pulling their traveling bags out of Nigeria leaving us worse than they met us, taking along the best brains we have (calling them migrants and not expatriate in their destination). These migrants are well paid, well treated abroad, we even beg them for Monies. We call it Diasporal Remittances. So no blames! Am going soon. It's time our leaders think beyond their political gains and face the economy. You can keep quoting 10 Likes 1 Share |

Truth is them no born north well to increase this ratio ... because the only way to do it is by taxing the population and that's the fastest way to break Nigeria South would pay tax you would use to fund 44 LGA in Kano ? No body would accept that 10 Likes 1 Share |

sulaak: This is an indication that Nigerians don't pay tax but want govt to provide paradise and utopia out of thin air. Smaller African countries in terms of GDP and population raise revenue of over $100bn out of their economy to use for public works, education and healthcare investment. But Nigeria raise mere $30bn and ignorant Nigerians want to have world class everything out of that. Funds that cannot give a country like USA adequate fire fighting services. South Africa will invest our entire budget on education and still have another $100bn left for other things. Yet they still have hungry looters and poorly educated people. We are doing ourselves bad if we don't create a working tax system, age of excess oil funds is over 6 Likes 3 Shares |
