Justice Gideon Kurada of the Kaduna State High Court has acquitted and discharged the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem El- Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat Ibrahim who have been standing trial in the court for the past four years. In a judgement delivered on Wednesday, Justice Kurada said the case was not shown nor proven by the prosecutor. El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat, are standing trial on eight counts bordering on alleged culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, disruption of public peace, among others. The defendants had pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them. The couple have been in detention since 2015, after IMN supporters clashed with soldiers in Zaria, Kaduna. GeneralFarouq:I disagree with you. At least a proper military should have arrays of defferent platforms, even if there roles and functions are the same. The Mi-35m is a fantastic and deadly platform, so also is the cobra attack helicopters. Don't forget that the Mi, apart from its attack role it's a utility and a troop carrier platform. The Cobra on the other hand is much more faster and more maneuver than the Mi, due to the fact that is much more lighter. But both are proven attack platforms ! |

bidexiii:Oh I get where you are coming from., Then we can go for the MI-28NE which is more similar to the Cobra than the MI 35... Except of course we don't want to source from one nation only... This American attitude is bad for the war With the MI-28NE, NAF has experience with Russian helis and can easily pilot andmaintain them or help whoever is acquiring it in doing any of these things

GeneralFarouq:Yes naa, the MI-28NE is proven platform also or we go for the Chinese ZE-10 ? Am thinking the helicopters are for the NA Aviation. Few weeks ago images of NA pilots emerged from Indian am guessing if the NA HQ is opting for there helicopters else where. Just having a wild guess |

bidexiii:Thank God the deal was blocked. Why would the army be spending $800 million on helicopters when they have huge defect of tanks, artilleries, and other ground systems. Common protected troops carrying vehicles they don't have they are now going to buy 12 outdated AH-1 helicopters. I guess it's the APKWS that is carrying the bulk of the cost but it is still misplaced priority. The implication of this is that the army is basically trying to use almost all the cash they are getting from the supplementary budget to get the helicopters. AH-1 is old for God's sake. They don't even know when they would be getting another allocation of this magnitude and they want to waste the opportunity to get hundreds of IFVs, tanks, artilleries and MRAPs. Fvcking morons ![]() |

RiceProducers:Man, you have way of making very amusing comments. In the most recent air to air kills in modern air combat, how many fighter jet shoot downs have occurred in BVR ranges? US navy shoot down of Syaaf fighter jet WVR, F-16 shoot down of SU-24 WVR, Pakistani shoot down of Indian MIG-21 WVR. What is the probability rate of BVR shoot downs? You seem to approach actual military engagements with a video game mentality. |

kabe1:Why is it not possible that it's an army purchase? Considering they've been talking about army aviation wing for years and they've been training pilots too? The airforce still has 5/6 MI-35s waiting to be delivered from Russia so why would they suddenly start going for American helos when they've been using Russian for several years. I don't believe the airforce is dumb. Can only be the army, they are the ones that purchase like morons. |

Whyem15:Mate what's your brand of bear ..... ![]() But let's be honest only God knows deal this present administration is going for, if the US lawmakers do not block the deal, how would we know we are buying attack helicopters. Untill they are been delivered ! Talking about the deal, did you read the deal well, we are not buying only the attack helicopters, it also includes helicopters, the proposed sale included 28 helicopter engines produced by GE Aviation, 14 military-grade aircraft navigation systems made by Honeywell, and 2,000 advanced precision kill weapon systems—laser-guided rocket munitions, according to information sent by the State Department to Congress and reviewed by Foreign Policy magazine If we continue acquiring equipments like these will get there soon |

Covert1:The Pakistanis are some of the best airforce pilots it the world BUT this exercise is a very remote possibility in an actual war. The JF 17 wouod be seeing / enjoying clear skies with nothing showing on is headset display when missiles from Rafale would hit. Don't forget Rafale disappears from radar or creates fake new Rafales at the touch of a button. India's Rafales also have long range AA missiles that behave like dogfighting combat aircraft themselves. |

Xbee007:I beg your pardon. The AH1 is still in service. The reliability is 4x that of MI 35M. I still wonder why people don't get updated about things. The version Nigeria is planing to buy would be a able to fire APKWS enabled rockets and ATGMs, dies that sound like old tech. How could anyone say AH1s are old?. Of course they were active during the Vietnam War. Of course there are modern versions flying in Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco et. C. The most serially modernized and upgraded combat helicopters in history. AH64 Apache is a slight departure from AH1 not the modern version of AH1. The Jonathan administration actually attempted to buy these choppers in 2013. As for Congress blocking it, Nigeria is actually just playing a good game. The Plan B would be MI28N (which I don't like) or more of the MI35M When the Americans come with sanctions, Nigeria wants to be able to use lobbyists to make the point "we came to you first" and you said NO. The US may also be concerned (their capacity for silliness is high) about a future Nigerian civil War with their weapons falling in the hands of one side and the negative publicity. |

Whyem15:The army doesn't have any infrastructure on ground to fly advanced helicopters. Army aviation would most likely come in the form of light utility helicopters, not an advanced helicopter like the AH-Z1. We don't know the current status of the MI-35M's still in Russia. The only plausible purchaser is the Air Force. |

Whyem15:You definitely don't know what you are talking about. These IFVs and MRAPs are just prolonging the war. In this Boko Haram war, APCs, IFVs, MRAPs are just good stuff, they are not overwhelming force. We need overwhelming force to end this quickly and the only way is armed attack helicopters of good reliability. |
