Wow
The journey to my application getting approved was exactly 6 months. 6 long stressful months.
When I submitted my application, I didn't understand much about the process. I didn't even click yes when asked if I would require a medical exam lol.

My timeline:
Submitted application - January 29th
Biometrics done - February 9th
NSE request sent - February 26th
Biometrics updated - February 29th
Sent IELTS and mbs - February 29th
IRCC received - March 9

From here on there was total silence and I began to worry a lot but I didn't know who or where to make enquiries.
When I came to this thread in April, I was very scared that my application would be refused because I saw a lot of mistakes I made but I became very proactive after I had gotten enough info.

Proof of funds wasn't a problem as my dad was my sponsor and I had been awarded a scholarship by my school (University of Toronto)

It was from this thread I learnt one could do upfront medicals. Eventually, I was sent a medical request on June 4th and I went for it on June 21st. It was updated to passed a week later after I uploaded the e-medical form given to me.

Another long wait began and I kept hoping as I was seeing stories of people getting their PPR a week after their medical.
I considered sending mails to MPs, webforms but I thought against it,. I saw people getting PPRs after ordering for their GCMS so I ordered mine on the 19th of July.

I saw a ghost update at 1am on the 29th and by 1pm I received an email from IRCC.
Finally I can rest smiley

Documents submitted:
- IMM1294
- IMM5645
- IMM5257
- Birth Certificate
- Passport
- Admission letter and Scholarship letter
- Bank Statements of my dad's account
- Digital Photo
- IELTS
- Custodianship Form

Finally I would like to thank people on this thread who answered all my questions no matter how seemingly stupid they were.
It has finally ended in good news.

Congratulations, it has ended in praise. Go and prosper

Good morning all,
It is really a bad news for me today. My application was refused based on home tie.

Pls what other option is open for me or how do I apply for gcms? I honestly need an experience person to guide me as I'm really scattered now.

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in

You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can
demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be

Register my application. Create an account to get more details on the status of your application
and to receive your mail online. Find out how: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/

When should I contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)?

You must notify IRCC of any changes to your application. Examples of changes include
• changes in your personal circumstances, such as the birth or adoption of a child, death of a
family member, a marriage or a divorce;
• changes in contact information, such as email, mailing address or telephone number;

I regret to hear that your study visa application was refused by the Canadian immigration authorities. Given the reasons highlighted by the visa officer, it is evident that you didn't demonstrate that you've significant ties back in Nigeria that would compel your departure after studies. The course of study is also not in tandem with your current employment status which doesn't show career progression. I will urge you to request for your case notes as soon as possible, this will provide clarity to the main reasons behind the refusal of your application.

Good morning guys, my study permit application was recently refused. And this was the only reason when I ordered my gcms notes. How do I tackle this please?

Secondly, I’m supposed to resume by September, I’m thinking of deferring but my course is only available for September resumption.
What happens If I change my course? Will I have to write a new SOP, and change all my information??

The visa officer is not satisfied that your course of study in Canada is a reasonable expense considering that you're being sponsored by your step-father, who in the Canadian immigration system is considered as a third party. There was no/insufficient evidence on file to prove that the said sponsor is in fact related to you. Please be advised that changing program to another in your next application does not in anyway affect the credence of your submission. However, a detailed written letter of explanation addressing the reason for changed of course and its related benefits must be well spelled out in your subsequent application. To further increase your chances of getting approval, I will strongly recommend you be self-sponsored or use someone more connected to you (biological father/mother or siblings).

Hello house good morning. Please I need your advise.

My school will resume on the 7th of September but I want to travel on the 13th. Will I be allowed to enter Canada or be refused that am late?
Pls help

The immigration authorities will question your reasons for traveling to Canada at this time. Nonetheless, should you're able to obtain a cover letter from the institution in Canada confirming that students are eligible to begin studies after 1 to 2 weeks of resumption, there won't be any problem.

Here is the screenshot of the GCMs note. The sponsor is a 3rd party. My cousin is his P.A and we are not related by blood.

As clearly indicated in the GCMS notes, the visa officer has grave concerns about the entirety of the application submitted. The proof of relationship with the sponsor who is a third party was not well substantiated. There is no rational evidence to show that the applicant has complete access to funds in the sponsor's account. More so, there is no career progression as the proposed program is not reasonable insight with either of the applicant's work experience and/or previous studies. In light of these enumerated concerns, my professional advice for this application, is that the applicant should consider applying to a course more directly relevant with the current employment and also change the sponsor to someone closely related say, parents or siblings.

Okay, what's the advantage above the normal statement of account?

My account is valid not doctored.

Am asking why i should use that, bcs it's like people are hammering on it and not all banks offers such service.
I can only use the MBS only if it saves me pages more than the 6 months statemnt that will have several pages of financial history, cos i think have heard that before.
My bank is First Bank, but am trying to reach out to them if there is availability.

It’s available in first bank. Iv done it twice. It gives more credibility to your account and they need not verify again manually or otherwise with the bank.

How do I do the GIC please? Can you provide steps??
I have checked Google and I didn’t see anything

And my course is a three year course … are you saying I pay for the whole three years?

In my estimation, I don't see much relevance to opening a GIC account for a Canadian study permit from Nigeria. There are several ways you can show proof of unencumbered funds in your possession instead of passing through the process of creating a GIC account. The Canadian Immigration policy demands that applications from Nigeria should adequate funds in their bank account and proof of source of wealth/income. The Consulate has never requested any Nigerian application to open a GIC account. In view of this, anyone that does this should bear in mind that it doesn't increase one's chance of visa issuance neither doesn't it demonstrate that an applicant has a bonafide intention to study in Canada. You can save yourself the stress and have your funds in Naira currency or even in dollars.

When he submitted his application, he submitted both the letter covering his tuition waiver and my Bank statement of 11m to cover his living expenses...we didn't submit any land documents or property documents at that time cuz we felt it wasn't necessary but from what I am seeing here I don't know if its wise to do so now through webform...he applied May 19th...thanks for your response

The financial documents you're referring to, does it belong to your sponsor or yourself? Those belonging to your sponsor should be uploaded under the "Proof of finances" whilst yours may go into the "Client Information". After submission, you can also raise a webform to resend the documents.

Hey guys,

PPR at last.

First Application (NSE): Applied 27th Oct 2020 and Refused 25th Apr 2021.
Second Application. (reapplied without GCMS notes so as to beat the 15th May Deadline)
13th of May: Submitted
1st June: Eligibility Review: Started
14th June: Medical passed

13th July: Received GCMS note for the first refusal and sent a follow-up letter to IRCC on July 14th
30th July: Noticed a missing document in my application which I had declared in my LOE and emailed it to IRCC
31st July: PPR and BVL
Many thanks to my friends Ijeanwuli, Oluwayemisi0507, and of course Boss Frankrobbn who took out their time to review my LOE and follow-up letter. And as many as those that are expecting their testimony, God will perfect it IJN, Amen.
PS: I’ll be dropping my checklist soon in case someone needs that info.

Congrats. God be praised.

There is no reason to be worried, having a fully funded scholarship from a DLI in Canada unquestionably improves your husband's chances of getting approval. Since you didn't include his landed property documents at the time of submission, you can do so now. Moreover, there are numerous of succesful applications that didn't include proof of property ownership in their application but got approved. Please go ahead with your plans by sending those documents to IRCC via webform. In the mail, you should state the reason for providing it now, you could say it was omitted or the documents were not within your reach as at that time.

Use www.ilovepdf.com - High Compression, it should reduce the documents to below 2MB and still be legible. Do this and thank me later.

Please Guys I will need your advice, I have IJMB O Level English in replace for Waec O level English deficiency which I used to gain admission for my University. Am planning a master degree program in Canada I will like to know if it will be possible to get admission with the O level combinations for my Masters program or if there is any program to take at first in Canada. I mean like a pre degree that will help in replace for the O level. Lastly if there is, which schools are opened for this.

I will need your sincere advice as have reached out to some agent some said it’s possible while some also said not possible

Please be properly guided that you do not require your O'level certificate to apply for a Master's program in Canada. Do not make the mistake of applying for a second degree for your chances will be very slim to convince the visa officer. To apply for a Master's program, you require a copy of international passport, transcripts, undergraduate degree certificate and a copy of your resume.

Hello Guys!

Came to share my testimony here. Visa was rejected twice and approved on my third visa application.

Started this journey in 2020.

1st application: April 23, 2020.
Rejected September 23rd, 2020.
2nd application: November 23rd , 2020.
Rejected March 10th, 2021.

3rd application: March 26th, 2021.
Medical request July 12th 2021.
Passport Request 29th July, 2021.

The journey was frustrating and tbh I had already given up and started looking into visa applications to other countries. You really need alot of patience to endure all of this. If you find yourself in a similar situation please request your gcms notes and really tackle the issues.

Really grateful to God and I wish everyone the best!

Congratulations.
Please kindly state reasons for rejection and how you tackled them.

Please has anyone applied for Canada study visa outside of Nigeria ? I am confused on how to go about it especially my statement of account , since I am applying as a resident in Dubai, I am going to use there police certificate, do my medical here, and even IELTS here and I have a valid Resident ID card, but I don’t have a bank account over here, but as a a self sponsored I have the money required in my Nigeria account , does it make sense if I apply from Dubai and use a statement of account from a Nigeria bank?

Thanks

The sad truth is that getting a Canadian visa from UAE is usually very difficult. The Canadian embassy in UAE is known to be very thorough and strict in issuing visas to immigrants. I have observed this first hand from the several applicants I have encountered. Before an applicant can be considered for a visa from the Canadian Consulate in UAE, the person must have applied for numerous times. Its much more better applying from Nigeria and your application taken to Nairobi for due visa processing than applying from UAE. To provide an answer to your enquiry, please note that any financial statement would work for an application to Canada insofar as its written in English or French.

Good afternoon Nairalanders, someone told me to go for advanced diploma instead of undergraduate course because I have a professional diploma certificate in Nigeria already, he said advanced diploma is cheaper and it’s 2 years while undergraduate courses will be more expensive and he also said I should get my GCMS notes to know the VO concern for my previous refusal and that I might have a more better chance this time since I have a professional diploma already and going for advanced diploma . What do you think guys ?

Is the professional diploma your highest level of education in Nigeria? If so, an advanced diploma program would be a good fit for you. It is also important to elucidate in detail your study gaps, this will help the visa officer in his assessment when reviewing your eligibility.
