Hi, please how will I know when the counter foil has been stamped on my passport and how long does it take. Thank you.

There won't be notification when the counter foil has been updated on your application. Usually, the counterfoil will be updated on your profile immediately a visa has been stamped on your International Passport.

Please a quick question! I submitted my application July 6 ! But right now my dad just got back from dubai and I have so many landed documents I didn’t submit in the first place . The question is can I add additional documents to boost my application through webform without any consequences?

There is no consequences attached with sending additional documents to IRCC via webform. It is important you indicate in the mail message that these documents were not within your reach during the submission of your file. The immigration will update your records accordingly.

is it more likely to get approved if youre young like 17-21?

The approval chances is contingent on the sponsor and not the age. If the sponsor is closely related to the applicant, this significantly improves the application.

Good morning great minds

Is it compulsory for an international student to have a Return Flight Ticket before he/she can get PTA (Personal Travel Allowance) from a Nigerian Bank?

@Frankrobbn1
@JustMellow et al.

Sorry bro for the late response, I'm just seeing this now. The requirement for PTA demands that travellers must show proof of to and fro ticket. In light of this, a return ticket is required.

Nb; I received your enquiry, I'll respond soon.

Frankrobbn1:

In my estimation, I don't see much relevance to opening a GIC account for a Canadian study permit from Nigeria. There are several ways you can show proof of unencumbered funds in your possession instead of passing through the process of creating a GIC account. The Canadian Immigration policy demands that applications from Nigeria should adequate funds in their bank account and proof of source of wealth/income. The Consulate has never requested any Nigerian application to open a GIC account. In view of this, anyone that does this should bear in mind that it doesn't increase one's chance of visa issuance neither doesn't it demonstrate that an applicant has a bonafide intention to study in Canada. You can save yourself the stress and have your funds in Naira currency or even in dollars.

Can I use a Visa card in place of a MasterCard to pay tuition. The tuition webpage says Mastercard, but can I use a Visa card? Someone said I could, but I want to be sure.

Also, how do I show proof of receiving rent from rented properties? I have taken a survey of my properties. Can I just state it in my statement of purpose or do I need additional documents?

You can't for your tuition fees from Nigeria using a Mastercard. You need the assistance of a trusted fellow who is resident abroad to help you with the payment. Alternatively, fill for a Form A to carry out the transaction via wire transfer from your Nigerian Bank to the school.

Thank you for all your messages.

Application submitted (NSE o) - April 14

Upfront medicals was done before application was submitted.

Eligibility review status updated - July 21st

PPR and Correspondence letter - July 26th

Like I mentioned here before, my study visa to Australia was denied twice in 2019. I knew my chances were low because I applied for a certificate program (Post-secondary) despite having a BSC already. After the second refusal, I gave up on traveling.

I must add that I'm not the most eligible applicant by a long stretch but like I do say, one must make the most out of every circumstance. My profile in it true self wasn't promising but certain things were in place and I leveraged on everything leverageable.

One of my biggest concern was proof of fund. I submitted my mum's account and sister's bussines account. The business account is the primary account. The balance was sufficient but my concern was that funds are never held for long periods (Red flag). She could have 15m today, and in the next couple of days, the balance could be as low as 100k and there was a period the balance was in negative figures -2m. I wrote the sponsorship letters myself, and I buttressed on some point I already stated in my SOP. Such as, Funds are not kept idle in the bank, they're held as inventories. In the sponsorship letter, I also stated my sister has a good standing status with her bank and is eligible to loan and overdraft facility. I mentioned I will be provided a monthly upkeep allowance of 1k cad. In the letter, I emphasized on my genuine access to funds and demonstrated it by having my sister send me 1.5 m to my account as upkeep allowance for the first quarter of my stay in Canada. I stated the date the fund for upkeep and tuition fee was provided to me. I didn't provide my personal account (I no get money sad. ) I transferred the fund provided to my barter virtual card. The card statement and screenshot of my account was submitted. At that time, the 1.5m was equivalent to about 3,200 USD. I would have preferred having the fund in a dormiciliary account of a recognised bank but time was no longer on my side.

In my SOP, I attached pictures where necessary, especially in regards to establishments. I also made my future prospect seem very promising in Nigeria. I disclosed my failures in business. "Setback" was the word I used and how studying in Canada will provide networking opportunities e.t.c I sha try to package myself wella

All in all, I consider myself fortunate and I am thankful to God. The information provided on this thread has been very useful. Special shout-out to @lekiboboe, @justmellow, @Frankrobbn1 and every other person that has one way or the other provided some sort of helpful contribution to this thread. Gracias to you all.

To those awaiting decision, I am wishing you all the best. And to those that got unfavourable decision, I have been in your shoes. If and when you decide to reapply, this community is going to be here for you. We all have the same goal.

Congratulations on your approval, glad to hear your application pulled through in the end. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and ideas. It is a pleasure to have been part of your success story to Canada.

Please is it okay to renew passport after getting ppr request? Thank you

It's not a bad idea to renew your passport as you had received a passport request from the immigration. The visa will be issued on the new passport while the old passport will be cancelled without prejudice. Passport Renewal takes an average of 6 weeks. I don't believe you will be able to meet up with the 30 days stipulated timeframe given by IRCC to submit your passport. I will recommend you consider advising them in writing if the new one passport is not available.

Please has anyone gotten ppr without a single ghost update? Is it really necessary for ppr?
If someone doesn't get a ghost update, does it mean they've disposed the person's file?
Must someone see a ghost update? Like is it by luck one finds a ghost update or does it clear if one does not login?

Not every application receives a ghost update on their MYCIC account. Sometimes, you might even miss out the ghost update without knowing.

I have seen a case scenario where there was no ghost udpate until a final decision was reached. Therefore, if you're not seeing any ghost update on your profile, you don't have to be worried. A visa officer can decide to pick up your file and complete the eligibility review at a very brief time.

The immigration authorities will question your reasons for traveling to Canada at this time. Nonetheless, should you're able to obtain a cover letter from the institution in Canada confirming that students are eligible to begin studies after 1 to 2 weeks of resumption, there won't be any problem.

But the instruction is to come 4 weeks to resumption and 13th falls within the 4 weeks....I think he’s good to go

The 13th was not explicit in the enquiry. My advice was for September 13th not August. The op might have to reconfirm which of the 13th he/she is pointing at.

Eligibility status blank and pre-assessment note blank

When Eligibility Assessment and Pre-assessment note is blank on your GCMS notes, it's an indication that your file has not been touched by an immigration officer at the Canadian embassy. The best approach to this situation is to keep sending emails and webforms to the responsible visa office.

Is it okay if I have three sponsors?

My main sponsor has about 10 mil in his acc. Second sponsor is a company manager with a lot more, and the third has about a million.

Should I use only two or is it okay to have the third too?

Stick to max two sponsors. The first sponsor with higher proof of funds should be the main sponsor whist the second be the auxiliary. Both sponsors should present a letter of sponsorship to assert their financial Sponsorship.

So I duno if it’s allowed here but I don’t intend to break the rules.

I felt I can share what I gained. I recently listened to an Instagram live discussion on KSA’s page with an ex-VO, Annie who is now an immigration consultant.

It was helpful as I was able to see through the eyes of a typical visa officer. Even though their views may vary as everyone is different. it was insightful hearing from the other side and what she generally thinks about the high visa refusals from Nigeria.

See link if you wish to watch and if the link is not accessible, go to KSAs page and search for the interview he had with Anie.

I also need assistance in getting my transcript to be sent outside the country but I also want to have a copy myself, so I don't have to be requesting from UNIBEN everytime for it.

Hello everyone,
please what does this statement under eligibility mean?
Thank you

REVIEW OF ELIGIBILITY: is the final check and the final stage of your application at the Visa Office. At this point, all of the components of your application are assessed by the responsible immigration officer. The visa officer will be checking if you actually QUALIFY for a Canadian study permit and if your application meet the requirements of the IRCC Act. If your application is deemed eligible, the Visa officer will request for a medical examination as needed by the Visa Office to complete processing of your application.

Most times, it is the Review of Eligibility that some applicants fail to meet because their applications and conditions does not meet the requirements of the IRCC Act (Insufficient funds, course correlation, limited home ties, failure to convince the visa officer that the primary intention is to study). Other checks are just standard procedure for IRCC.

After successful review of an applicant application and given that there were no serious issues in the medical checkup, nor any misrepresentation, and security checks to ensure that you will not be a danger to Canadians should your study permit be approved, the Visa Officer will then request for your passport for visa issuance.
