There's a thread on nigerians living in Canada. One can follow it to get enlightened about life of Nigerians in Canada.

Hello Mister,
For all the years i have been on nairaland before choosing to create an acct recently to ask my questions since its due time, i have followed all threads concerning school and immigrant especially all thread pertaining to canada, it has been a routine where student share their landing gist on The student canada thread.

The one you mentioned mostly have landing gist for those who got PR through express entry etc.

You have NO right to say that to me when all i said is in line with this thread in order to help prospective student who would be going soon too.

You can go back to threads of years back to read up landing gist that was even so common compared to now.

Please be guided.

Good morning @Frankrobbn...good to see you online,I have been meaning to ask this question although when my husband applied for his study permit,we didn't know about this thread...He got a full tuition waiver from Bishops University, he is going for his Msc thesis based... When he submitted his application, he submitted both the letter covering his tuition waiver and my Bank statement of 11m to cover his living expenses...we didn't submit any land documents or property documents at that time cuz we felt it wasn't necessary but from what I am seeing here I don't know if its wise to do so now through webform...he applied May 19th...thanks for your response

Personally i think any additional documents you think will strengthen your application should be sent to ircc.

Thanks for this information. I will tell him to do so.

SuomyNona:

There is nothing bad in this, but you must have a convincing explanation in the SOP for doing this.

My personal opinion is that there are numerous loopholes to cover, let the PA defer the admission till next year. You have to tidy up the financial aspect and build up a proper profile for the intended course.

Find an accredited certification IT centre i.e NIIT or New Horizon. Let the PA enrol for a short duration relevant IT programming there (like 3 months or 6 months). This will not only help the PA for visa but will also ease his integration to the course when he is in Canada. You can also try to secure a remote computer science internship for the PA.

Goodday Gurus,
A quick question please, at what stage of an application is the proof of funds and purpose of visit vetted?..Background or eligibility?.

Congratulations on your approval.
I saw that your going for Practical Nursing. Please what course did you study as your Bsc and your work background?
I want to go for Practical Nursing, did sciences but my work background is marketing and currently doing business.

Teenie19:
Dear Nairaland family,

It has finally dropped ooooo! Glory be to God Almighty!!!!

Sister's application
AOR: Feb 11 2021
Program: Practical nursing May 2021 (Sheridan college)- clearly can't go for May 2021 anymore due to delay, will go for Jan 2022 session!
Upfront medical : April 28, 2021 ( we said let's do medical to see if it will speed things up, lol jokes)
Medical passed: June 14, 2021 (just see how long it took them to update medical!)
Eligibility started: July 23, 2021
PPR and correspondence letter: this morning July 27th @ 4:34am!

What a wait! Basically this application took 5 months and 16 days. I remember I considered withdrawing the application at some point, but you all encouraged me to hold on! During this waiting period, 3 gcms notes were ordered and the fourth one has been ordered as well. All the gcms notes received didn't have much info as eligibility was blank. Each time I got the gcms notes, I was always disappointed that eligibility was blank. Now that I think of it, I guess it's not a bad thing...

I just want to use this medium to thank everyone for their support through out this journey! This is a wonderful platform and we all draw strength and hope from one another! One thing that helped me during the long wait was seeing other people's approval postings. I was always encouraged by those success stories. I remember telling myself that my testimony was near when DD097 and demure got approved as we all applied around the same time and faced this delay..

In short, this is a wonderful platform and I hope more people get to know about the wonderful support we have here! Thanks to all the gurus and everyone that tries to assist others with their questions! If you have any questions for me , please feel free to ask here so others can learn from it ! I'm rooting for all my co- February applicants and any one with a delayed application and of course everyone on here , that you will all get a favourable response soon in Jesus name!

Cheers to more success stories ! grin

Is not up to 332 but it's advisable to use a rate higher than theirs.

So use 332 for your conversion.

When Eligibility Assessment and Pre-assessment note is blank on your GCMS notes, it's an indication that your file has not been touched by an immigration officer at the Canadian embassy. The best approach to this situation is to keep sending emails and webforms to the responsible visa office.

It will end in praise

Wow
The journey to my application getting approved was exactly 6 months. 6 long stressful months.
When I submitted my application, I didn't understand much about the process. I didn't even click yes when asked if I would require a medical exam lol.

My timeline:
Submitted application - January 29th
Biometrics done - February 9th
NSE request sent - February 26th
Biometrics updated - February 29th
Sent IELTS and mbs - February 29th
IRCC received - March 9

From here on there was total silence and I began to worry a lot but I didn't know who or where to make enquiries.
When I came to this thread in April, I was very scared that my application would be refused because I saw a lot of mistakes I made but I became very proactive after I had gotten enough info.

Proof of funds wasn't a problem as my dad was my sponsor and I had been awarded a scholarship by my school (University of Toronto)

It was from this thread I learnt one could do upfront medicals. Eventually, I was sent a medical request on June 4th and I went for it on June 21st. It was updated to passed a week later after I uploaded the e-medical form given to me.

Another long wait began and I kept hoping as I was seeing stories of people getting their PPR a week after their medical.
I considered sending mails to MPs, webforms but I thought against it,. I saw people getting PPRs after ordering for their GCMS so I ordered mine on the 19th of July.

I saw a ghost update at 1am on the 29th and by 1pm I received an email from IRCC.
Finally I can rest smiley

Documents submitted:
- IMM1294
- IMM5645
- IMM5257
- Birth Certificate
- Passport
- Admission letter and Scholarship letter
- Bank Statements of my dad's account
- Digital Photo
- IELTS
- Custodianship Form

Finally I would like to thank people on this thread who answered all my questions no matter how seemingly stupid they were.
It has finally ended in good news.

Glad to see another U of Toronto student. We are upto 6 on this thread resuming for Fall session.

Kindly send a DM, at this rate it is possible that we create a group on WhatsApp.

Hello the gurus, @lekibobo, @shupy, @frankborn, @justmellow and everyone else.

My younger brother's application was refused on the first week of June based on purpose of visit and personalasset and financial status, second application.

I got the notes and I need everyone's help on it because I want to get it right this time around.

Brief info about his profile:
Had OND in Architecture.

Had a diploma certificate in desktop publishing from a training centre

Working as a Customer Care Officer at Globacom.

24 years of age, going for BSC in computer science.

NB: CAC certificate was submitted as proof of source of income.

I'm sorry about your brother's refusal. A choice of program that's not in-line with previous qualification or job role is a red flag. A certificate from a training center won't be given much consideration, but since he is working with a telecommunication giant, a better job could have been done in his SOP addressing the reason for his choice of program.

In regards finance, when the fund is in a business account, one must ensure to get a bank reference letter stating the signatories to the account. Demonstrating genuine access to the fund goes a long way i.e initiate the payment of tuition from the business account or have fund sent to the applicant's account. Could be for tuition or living expenses. The date of the transaction must be pointed out either in the SOP or letter of sponsorship.
He should ensure to submit his salary account.
I must also add that scanned copies of a bank statement is not acceptable. At the very least, a bank statement (soft copy) generated with a bank app will suffice, provided that the account or bank is unable to generate MyBankStatement certificate.

Thank you Sir Frank for this explanation...

Frankrobbn1:

REVIEW OF ELIGIBILITY: is the final check and the final stage of your application at the Visa Office. At this point, all of the components of your application are assessed by the responsible immigration officer. The visa officer will be checking if you actually QUALIFY for a Canadian study permit and if your application meet the requirements of the IRCC Act. If your application is deemed eligible, the Visa officer will request for a medical examination as needed by the Visa Office to complete processing of your application.

Most times, it is the Review of Eligibility that some applicants fail to meet because their applications and conditions does not meet the requirements of the IRCC Act (Insufficient funds, course correlation, limited home ties, failure to convince the visa officer that the primary intention is to study). Other checks are just standard procedure for IRCC.

After successful review of an applicant application and given that there were no serious issues in the medical checkup, nor any misrepresentation, and security checks to ensure that you will not be a danger to Canadians should your study permit be approved, the Visa Officer will then request for your passport for visa issuance.

Okay, what's the advantage above the normal statement of account?

My account is valid not doctored.

Am asking why i should use that, bcs it's like people are hammering on it and not all banks offers such service.
I can only use the MBS only if it saves me pages more than the 6 months statemnt that will have several pages of financial history, cos i think have heard that before.
My bank is First Bank, but am trying to reach out to them if there is availability.

First bank joined the train couple of months back and like you rightly mentioned,it eliminates bulky pages, reduces file size and most importantly considered more authentic.

I’m trying to submit a webform but the documents don’t upload. I guess they’re still fixing the site.

What if I submit to another ircc in another country, will it be forwarded to the office handling my application?

At the moment, there's no scheduled maintenance ongoing.

If your file size doesn't exceed 2mb,then try sending via another browser.
