Dhaka is the next china and Vietnam too. Bangladesh is going place. Youre just an idiot. Bangladesh in 10yrs has grown it economy from 100b to 350B dollars. They are now the world textile factory. That is almost guranteed to make them developed world soon. See Britain, Hong Kong, South Korea, China, Taiwan.

Bangladesh (Dhaka) are clothing the world. Veitnam are supplying the bicyles. These countries in one generation will escape poverty.

If Bangladesh repeat the last 10yrs - I dont see why not - they will be 1 trillion economy.

Not cooked like Nigeria. But proper - and by 2040 - they will be developed country.

China is at the cusp of becoming a developed country as their nominal gdp approaches 12,000usd - few years ago all they were good was selling clothes
Very true! Looking at their rapid growth Bangladesh is another Kenya!

Among South Asian economies, Bangladesh is touted as a rising star. In 2019, its per capita income was $1,856—substantially higher than Pakistan’s $1,285 and only $250 less than that of India. In 2020, Bangladesh might have edged ahead of India because it registered a growth rate of 2.4 percent whereas India’s GDP shrank by 7.3 percent. These numbers—especially the positive rate of growth during the pandemic year—are striking, part of an impressive growth performance that has averaged close to 6 percent per annum since the turn of the century (Figure 1) (although questions have been raised as to whether the GDP data accurately represents Bangladesh’s economic performance). Few least developed countries can match Bangladesh’s record in this respect. Various indicators of human development also show significant improvement: life expectancy in 2019 was 72.6 years, a gain of over 7 years since 2000; mean years of schooling were up from 4.1 to 6.2; and the country’s human development index (HDI) value had climbed from 0.478 in 2000 to 0.632 in 2019. Bangladesh’s HDI ranking is now 133rd out of a total of 189 countries, still relatively low but better than both Pakistan (154) and Nepal (142).

They're now at 90% electrical connections. Let me roll out some stats. They've decided upon the traditional way, textiles, which some say is a race to the bottom, low wages and horrendous working conditions which isn't the way for Kenya.

A typical Bangladeshi garment worker takes home less than $40 a month, a wage that Pope Francis has condemned as akin to slave labor. Their minimum wage was last raised -- by 80% -- in November 2010....The announcement came as the death toll from the country's worst industrial disaster climbed to 1,126, 19 days after a nine-storey garment factory complex in a suburb of Dhaka caved in and buried thousands of workers.

Between last month and 2012 over a thousand have died in a series of factory fires and building collapses.

DHAKA, Bangladesh — At least 51 people died in a fire on Thursday evening at an industrial building outside the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, the latest disaster in a country with a long history of unsafe working conditions in its factories.

They're major ship builders!

Shipbuilding yards in Bangladesh are now exporting small and medium-sized ships for the highly competitive European market.

Since 2008, Bangladeshi yards have manufactured and exported ferries, cargo vessels, and ocean-going multi-purpose ships worth more than $500m (£320m). The vessels were built for countries including Denmark, Germany and Finland.

In the past decade they've gone into aquaculture big. Fyi,this is one of the best bottom up approaches to reduce rural poverty. Its also ideal as Bangla is basically a giant flood plain with some NE parts getting as much as 5500 mm a year.

The aquaculture sector is a major contributor to food security and foreign exchange earnings and plays a decisive role in the Bangladeshi economy. In the fiscal year 2018-19, Bangladesh earned USD 505.58 million by exporting 73,171.31 MT fish and fishery products. [1] This represents 1.23% of the country’s total export earnings. [1] Shrimp contributed to 75.8% of the total fishery export earnings and comprised 45.6% of the total quantity of fish exports. [1] Bangladeshi aquaculture products are exported to more than 50 countries worldwide, with the major importers being the European Union (EU), USA, Japan, Russia, and China.

Not all is sunshine and cornflakes, though! Their educational quality needs improvement urgently. The UN HCI gives their expected yrs of schooling and harmonised test scores at 10.2/368 to our 11.6/455. Depending on the 'ronadrama and future exigous global drama by 2040,we should both be at 21000-24000 $ per capita income.

Dhaka is big city - maybe Cairo would talk - but not any of South African cities. Dhaka is becoming rich.
And is not SA’s fault that non of their city is 20m. Since when did population become a factor of a city being developed. Cape Town and some many SA cities are the best urban settlement to come out of Africa and nothing in South Asia can compete. SA is no joke, I keep saying that.

Thanks for the analysis. Pretty excited about Vietnam and Bangladesh. Kenya is at cusp - if we dont drop the ball. This year despite covid - the economy will recover to 8 percent.

F*ck off! Why can't you post progress instead? We can only weigh the grandness of these two projects by progress on ground.

Tatu city is not anywhere close to that pipe dream project.

Lemme give you a glimpse of what I'm talking about.

It's crystal clear that westlands has now overtaken upperhill in infrastructural development. - rvp, your take on this?

Also, light installation has started on GTC office tower.
