It would be recalled that for more than a year, the Federal Government shut down the country’s land borders due to alleged violation of ECOWAS protocols by neighbouring countries. The closure was aimed at stemming the tide of smuggling, illicit migration, arms banditry, drug trafficking and proliferation of light weapons. In addition, it was also aimed at strengthening demand for some local products, it impacted negatively on others as many businesses could not import from or export to the West and Central African market. Still on the matter |

Beancounter94:do you understand what is written? it's not about the port instead Benin has created markets in China, India, and turkey so they don't need Nigeria. Benin started this payback since May when they stopped food like tomatoes, pineapple from going to Nigeria claiming that they don't have sufficient food bit they supply these countries i mentioned above. now they have moved to partial border closure. I have said this countless times I'm this forum when we closed our borders that we are going to suffer it. Benin has nothing to loss. how did I know because I work at the border (seme) I stay close border, and I do business in Benin. that country has moved on its their turn to play the game. |

dre11:This has been happening since March 2021, when i comment about it some people reply that Benin don't have power to revenge. where are Nigeria online warriors? Nigeria need Benin more than Benin need Nigeria when it concern crossing to other west Africa. The good thing about is that most customers that patronizing Nigeria made goods are now buying from china at very cheap rate. so the little ones that return to buy from Nigeria since Nigeria government opens boarder may join the remaining to be importing from china. It time Nigeria use their product that waiting for export. Or pay the Benin duty and the china product will be cheaper in competitive market, chai Benin shoot Nigeria at right target and the brainless giant can't escape with the wound without beg for mercy. Imagine a nation that allow more than 20 custom checking point to harass and intimidating people and goods coming from Benin, but when Benin retaliate ones we will be shouting, we need all these customers at road to clear off before Benin can allow free movement of goods. |

Blame your dumb president not Benin. They've sorted their importation needs between the time some of you all were bragging to "teach them a lesson" not realizing Benin and other West African countries were busy looking for alternatives. Now, they know what to do. It's time to teach Nigeria a lesson too. They can now order directly from China, which is where Nigeria import from anywhere. |

| Re: Tariff Issues Trails Seme Border Reopening by EndNigeriaNnow: 3:51pm On Aug 05, 2021 |
Cnach:we can tame them if we all come together and reject them. Start by supporting Oduduwa and Biafra, which is the solution to our problems. When we have gotten our country, we will tame them there. Resist them in any way u can and stop supporting any of their political moves. Nigeria is dead. |

. Chairman of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANCLA), Seme Border chapter, Bisiriyu Fanu, said that Benin Republic had stopped 3,700 Nigerian-bound trucks from Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Togo at Ilakoji – the border between Togo and the Benin Republic. He explained that Benin authorities claimed it suspected the goods were not produced in West Africa. This is a good development |
