Nigeria is not rich country, yet is operating on bi-camera legislature. Senate and rep will be working and earning bogus salary on same legislative work in same ministry I'm very sure as a rep he embezzled such amount NBET is counterpart in Senate would that overseeing NBET would also go for his own fake training on same purpose and lavish bogus money, yet we want Nigeria to move forward. |

Lifestone:The expenditure was incurred during the Jonathan administration. I’m sure you saw clearly in the report that the issues were raised in the 2015 annual Auditor General’s report. |

Why expend that much on uniform when Abba Kyari would have billed them lesser. |

amalab30:its not enough to say the money should be returned ....that wont serve as a deterent.until we learn to punish wrongdoing we will never move forward in our quest for a corruption free nation. the director that signed off shd be dismissed without benefit and allowed to face prosecution same applies for d finance director and accountant at the agency. |

Which kind of stupid reporting is this? 132 million was not spent on drivers uniform. It was just 2m+. I think Nairaland is also encouraging news that brings nigeria to negative limelight. Its worse when it is pure sensationalism or outrightly false. |

valentineuwakwe:N2.5m on uniform for how many drivers? Was it necessary? The remaining amount spent on overseas training that never took place should be refunded and those found culpable should be prosecuted. It's sad that the headline is totally false. |

[quote author=amalab30 post=104584614]This is highly commendable. I think the cleansing must start somewhere. If there can be independent probe panels that can put these excesses into check then I believe Nigeria is going places. Imagine the whooping sum purportedly used to sew uniform at a not-so-popular agency of government, only God knows how much more other established agencies would have stolen for similar frivolous activities. [/quotes This is good for Nigeria! The Senate and House of Representatives should and must continue their Oversight Functions, without bias,as it helps to build Strong Institutions Framework of the law! In addition, the Law Makers must give the Time-Frame of Refunds of money collected illegally by these Institutions that are reaping Nigeria dry! We should stop playing Politics or Nepotism with Nigeria future! There are so many of these Institutions that are wrecking harvoc- Ministries,MDA's, Parastatals that their personel have turned to tin- gods. Many are operating without authority , budget or law or due process. Too Shameful! |

amalab30:Please don't deceive yourself. The ONLY reason this is a case is because the relevant parties were not settled. This type of fraud is going on in ALL govt agencies. When they make an example of this one, the rest will ensure they settle the 'Oga's at the top' |

Lifestone:All these were normal levels before now, we don't even hear if the theft is not in billions of dollars. Only Buhari will be catching someone for stealing ordinary 2m, as Jonathan said how much did Nwobodo 'stole'? |

Fiscus105:The cost of maintaining the bicameral legislature is less than 1% of our annual budget. And it's still high in my opinion. By the time our revenue is increased to a reasonable level at least 4 times to meet sub-saharan standards, the cost will be like 0.25% of our expenses. Bicameral legislature has it's own use. You might end up with unicameral house and start crying again to go back when you learn the downsides. Find out first why nations use bicameral legislature before calling for change. |

Ovamboland:How? Unicameral, bi-camera, parliamentary head of government will still fully control 3 arms of government. With that, why can't we go for the one with lowest cost of governance. |

Just imagine This is just in one department of one agency o, not to talk of thousands of departments in several MPAs that litter the country. Buhari is nothing but corruption itself. Dude has absolutely achieved nothing since inception. Thieves probing thieves. The end result can easily be predicted by simply sweeping everything under the carpet. Nigeria is doomed. |
