Education is biology is different from microbiology.bsc(edu)biology is not d same as Bsc microbiology.
If u graduate in d field of MCB,u can practice as å microbiologist depending on ur field. But with Bsc(edu) biology,u are trained to teach biology,so u are å teacher.

None has upper hand. It all depends on you.

Let me break it down for u a little bit. Mind you,the two courses are interwoven, esp at M.Sc and Ph.D level.
Biology(B.Ed) career opportunities: you can become a teacher/lecturer, u can become a cell biologist, u can go into Genetic engineering, u can easily go into Biotechnology or into Environmental Biology, u can work in any Agriculture Research Institute e.g NIHORT as a cell biologist and so on.

Microbiology(B.Sc) career opportunities: u can go into food mcb,industrial mcb,petroleum mcb,water mcb,agriculture mcb,medical mcb, pharmaceutical mcb, environmental mcb,environmental science,u can become a teacher/lecturer,u can become a researcher etc.

Now don't think career opportunities in MCB is more ooh. When u get to the work place,u will find out that all of u will still work in the same place. In fact in some cases like when carrying out EIA(Environmental Impact Assessment) in any environment,we make use of Biologists more than Microbiologists.

All in all,it depends on how well u develop urself and some other relevant skills u can aquire. Best of luck.
