You have two options in this kind of war

1.Stay there for decades, and ruthlessly kill as many people as possible for every small attack on your troops. Exile large numbers of people, keep thousands in jail, forcibly educate and even in some cases convert people there to your religion and way of thinking, and only leave the country when you have finished. That's how the Romans ran Palestine from 66bc to 135 CE. And after Bar Kochba...the area was peaceful for centuries.

Unfortunately that means severe human rights abuse

Let me tell you the story about Libya crises..

Ghadafi was fed up with Usa interference in some Africa countries, he refused almost all the policy imposed by Usa to Libya which got Usa confused cos he was inspiring other African countries to do the same.

Ghadafi sent Haftar to a proxy war outside Libya, which Haftar was captured by American troops.. Haftar was in prison for so many years until he was ready to negotiate for his release. American didn’t go to Afghanistan to fight a war, they went for peace keeping and one of the campaign promises of the Biden administration is to bring their troops back home.

In a real war case scenario, the taliban stands no chance. The USA has dislodge their activities before, killed their active commandos and will do so when the need arise again.
