They can take over north. There are many reasons they can't take over the whole country.
1.Talibans cum AFGHANS are not blacks very easy to identify.
2. Northerners cum Fulanis are very easy to identify.
3. Foreign investment in the south would cause investors to arm south.

Other tribes and religious groups in Nigeria will be facing selective extermination if they don't work together. I don't see much resistance because money will be used to block the eyes of the influential ones after reducing the population they will come with large army to take over.

It is not the army that stopped the bombing. The bombing was to discredit Jonathan.
