Proves my point. We don't ask such questions in the south west because we're more interested in good leadership.

My father is yoruba from ibadan, my mum is Igbo from Ideato North in imo state. I've had an interest in politics from very young age, hopefully someday I'd venture into politics and I'd need a platform to start from, am drawn to the south east because my mother's ties with the region, but considering the political climate of nigeria and requirements for running for office would it be possible to claim my mother's side as state of origin? Need your advice.

Lalasticlala would be great if these gets to front page.
if you know the territory well, you grew up there, can relate to the people, and can speak igbo. Why not
.. My uncle who is from Enugu contested for ward Councilor in delta state..

You don't understand a thing from my post, your comment shows it.

You are not Yoruba and your loyalty is divided even if you hate one of your parents. I know you are not ready to face the truth of your situation but I'll tell you that no serious tribe will put you in an important position. The Akeredolu you mentioned shows your state of mind as half n half(or quarter if your father is half Yoruba) No real Yoruba will see Akeredolu as a performing governor but how for do.

This is the future and the earlier you see it the better for you, If you don't have at least 75% Yoruba father and nursed a Yoruba breast milk, sorry my Igbo brother, you are not Yoruba but mixed.

Sorry, Bible promotes marriage among your kind to support one's own culture. The half, fake and plastic Yoruba in leadership position today is made possibe because of Yoruba's past of not looking before leaping and it's about to change.
TheSupleemLeada:
I understand your point and fears but they aren't valid. Firstly loyalty to one's tribe isn't determined by if such person is half Yoruba or married to a non yoruba what matters is simply one's awareness and loyalty to his tribe, the majority of sellouts today in Yoruba land are full Yoruba's and one of the major voices and pro regional politician is akeredolu married to an igbo woman, I am Yoruba and my loyalties are certainly not divided but it doesn't mean I shouldn't seek political position via my mother's homeland. And there's no harm if Yoruba men go out to fullfill God's word by planting their seeds in every corner of the world, I'd only frown at the practice if it's Yoruba women doing such, what's important is the growth of our culture and passing our cultural values down to our children, The Yoruba language and culture survived slavery and colonization, making it's way to even south America...this half Yoruba argument doesn't hold water.

You are a Nigerian and I believe that you can aspire to any office…but when was the last time you visited Ideato? Have you been there before.
Do you belong to any political party? Are you active in politics or just nursing the ambition of being a governor of Imo state simply because your mother was from there?

Have you interacted with people from that part of Nigeria before? Do you understand the cultural and political dynamics of the place? If you love politics, I expect you should’ve been a councillor or local government chairman in your state of origin to start with.

A novice thinking of launching his political career as a governor in an unfamiliar terrain sounds unserious.

I believe you can aspire to any political post as a Nigerian irrespective of your state of origin. Those citing example with the Igbo man in Lagos vying for councillor or house of rep are not being fair. Those people had lived in those places most of their lives, pay taxes and contribute to the development of such places.

Every state in Nigeria will ask for your root

Not peculiar to only Igbos

Why not contest in your fathers land?

Why change the topic of your post to Igbo?

Just for attention or for people to rant about Igbos again?
If you had paid attention to his points, you had see where he pointed out that he is interested in the south east because of his mum's tie over there.

Even at your age, you still type rubbish.
Rochas' father was Mr Nicholas Okorocha from Umuduruehughara Ogboko, Ideato South. While the mother was Mrs. Josephen Okorocha from Urualla in Ideato north, both in imo state.

Dude was born here in Ogboko 1962 but the family left for north ( Jos) after the civil war in 1970.

You guys in PDP should stop this your cheap propaganda, it doesn't sell anymore.

You have the right to Contest as long as u r a Nigerian, but Your Igbo brothers wont let you, they will rather claim position in the North, and South West, but will be quick to condemn anyone not from their side seeking offi e..

Sorry you can't, Igbos even disenfranchised and discriminated against fellow fully blooded Igbos based on the part of Igboland they came from not to talk of you an half-igbo. They will claim sense of belonging in Oyo and Kaduna state but can never give half of the opportunities they get elsewhere to outsiders in their land.

There are countless igbos I've seen in real life bash Nnamdi kanu and their fellow igbos does that make them really hate igbos? We may talk trash on the faceless forum but it doesn't change the fact that it all ends on nairaland and nobody goes around attacking igbos or their businesses in the south west. I am half Igbo and there's nothing even I can do about that.
