Nigeria has won another Gold at the ongoing World Athletics U-20 Championship holding in Nairobi, Kenya.

Nigeria's third medal came from the women's 400m event with Imaobong Nse Uko returning a Personal Best of 51.55 seconds (against previous PB of 51.70 seconds) in a race four other athletes beat their own Personal Bests.

The Championship which is taking place from August 17-22, had seen Nigeria win the Gold in the opening final of the tournament in the 4x400m mixed relay event, setting a Championship record.

Imaobong Nse Uko was part of the Nigerian quartet that did set the Championship record in Nairobi.

The Ibeno-born athlete is Nigeria's first individual World Champion in thirteen years.

Uko beat Poland's Kornelia Lesiewicz (PB-51.97secs), Kenya's Sylvia Chelangat (PB-52.23 secs), India's Priya Habbathanahalli Mohan (PB-52.77 secs), South Africa's Precious Molepo (53.98 secs), Canada's Ella Clayton (PB-54.10 secs) and Ukraine's Tetyana Kharascchuk (54.59secs).

Earlier in the day, Nigeria won her second medal through the Javelin throw event.

Nnamdi Chinecherem threw 74.48m to clinch bronze.

Finland's Janne Laspa (76.46m) and Ukraine's Artur Felfner (76.32m) finished Gold and Silver respectively.
