I can't go a week without taking garri or eat eba.
Infact, i prefer it to all these yanmayanma they sell so expensively in Lagos restaurants.
I am a real ijebu boy, born & breed.
Nothing can replace that food on my menu list.

Note: Don't come here and spew thrash saying 'poverty' is a disease. I'm well to do enough to afford any meal i want at the moment.

The garri was constantly making me to have
・Migraine (headache)
・Sour mouth; lips and tongue
・Stomach pain
・Fast heartbeat
・Itchness / scatching
・Body weakness, it makes me very weak. I must constantly lay down.
・Dizzyness, I will not be able to stand for long

The heavy sugar in garri started giving me diabetic symptoms.

・Weight loss (Fatigue)
・Blurr Vision
・Peeing / Urinating every 30 mins.
・Eye Pains / burning; I will not be able to look at the sun or be inside the sun because of eye pain/burning.

The first time I eat akpu in 2002, I nearly died. Akpu is extremely worse

Recently I noticed whenever i treat bacteria infection there wont be any relapse unti i take garri.... this has happen twice ...
if i take garri it increases bowel movement, increase or energizes unfriendly bacteria, open ulcers wound the more and increase acid reflux symptoms...

These are my experience with garri...

NB: If you are smoking, taking alcohol and also taking garri.... I bet it with you... you live to regret....

Many times I keep telling people that, eating Garri does more harm to us than good but nearly everyone that hear me say this, get furious with me.

Since child-hood I have had nothing but trouble eating this yellow stuff (Garri).
I normally eat rice from january to december, when I feel the urge to eat soup and garri, just eating it twice gives me health issues.

In 2018, I became worried and I went to see some (medic) practionals and told them about the effect of garri on me, to them I was talking nonsense because they themselves cannot do without eating garri.

I was in a place full of working men when I told them that Garri is poisonous to our body, these guys almost eat me raw. I had a fierce argument with them 1 me vs 7 men because I was trying to let them know that cassava root is very poisonous and harmful to our body.

OP know your body system. I like garri and every other food . That's because my body system can accept it well. I don't have favorite food either. But I can't eat Okra or any other draw soup outside cos I don't trust the cook. They can easily mix it with catarrh ....and you won't know.
Some can eat beans at night and be very comfortable, but few can't eat beans at night while others can't eat it all. Just know what's good for you. You are just allergic to my precious garri (oh garri I love you grin

You're allergic to a particular constituent in garri so avoid it as it can kill you. People have allergies to various things, it could be to peanut, seafood even clothes. Just Identify your allergen and avoid it like plague.

I can relate with you based on thle fact that, some people do uproot cassava and process (fry the second day without proper fermentation) this type can retain high level of cyanide. While some allow it pressing and fermentation for 3-- 4 days before frying. The outcome is always sour and the cyanide level is low.
Sour garri is better for consumption.

No need for the superstition... Food allergies are real and more common than many of us imagine. It's not something strange or even new.

As u know, moderation is important in all things ...u can consult me for a food timetable that will help u enjoy balanced diet..if u don't have money for timetable simply eat eba once a week, rice once a week, and soups like egusi&ogbono plus Banga soup once a month
Other foods u can enjoy in excess is
Calabar soups
Ekpan kukwo
Unripe plantain and goat meat peppersoup
Oiless okra
Yoruba tomato stew
Efo riro
Oat eba
Plantain eba
Moimoi
Salads
Etc

It's possible for some reasons that your body reacts to some biomolecules in cassava.

Milk is good for the body but some people will see heaven if they take it because they are lactose intolerant.

Cassava is good but maybe not for your body.

To me it's not poison to our body... Might be poison to yours

groundnut/banana gives me body scratch after bath
does it make it poison to other because my body react to it esp. If I didn't take smal portion

Lastly ma mum all her life she eba right from childhood.... She just clock 70th last month but before then any time she eat eba she get a swollen face no matter the quantity... We do take her to hospital then n we were told to watch her food

That was wen we detect it was eba.... The white one tho if she eats the yellow one it doesn't

Like i said our body react to stuff differently
Doesn't make those things bad wink

Op, take it easy, I understand u react adversely to garri but that does not make it harmful to others. I was born in ijebu and I can tell you that majority of the indigens take garri like twice a day! Yet nothing happens.if we are to go by your claim about cyanide,then,we should do away with most foreign foods.even common paracetamol can damage the liver if the daily dose is exceeded!
